As far as each of the competitions is concerned, the 2nd Gran Canaria Me Gusta 2022 Regional Cookery Competition will have two categories, on the one hand new talent and, on the other, professional. In this case, the competition will consist of the preparation and presentation of a dish that identifies and highlights the use of local raw materials.

Thus, for the new talents, the first place winner will be able to enjoy an online training programme at the Basque Culinary Center’s Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences (valued at 1,500 euros), as well as the possibility of a two-month internship in one of the kitchens of a prestigious restaurant in Gran Canaria. For their part, the second and third place winners will receive, in addition to a distinction, the possibility of an internship on the island.

The winner of the professional category will have access to a training programme at the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences of the Basque Culinary Center (valued at 3,000 euros), and the second and third place winners will each receive a distinction.

The first edition of the Regional Artisan Pastry and Confectionery Competition Gran Canaria Me Gusta 2022 will be aimed at pastry and confectionery professionals who will have to prepare and present a dessert that highlights the use of local raw materials. Finally, this ninth edition of the fair will also see the premiere of the 1st Gran Canaria Me Gusta 2022 Regional Sommelier Competition, with the aim of supporting the figure of the highly qualified wine sommelier and what he or she represents. This professional category is aimed at active professional sommeliers. On this occasion, the first place winner will receive a training programme (valued at 3,000 euros), while the second and third place winners will receive awards.

These four competitions are the starting point for what will be the ninth edition of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, which will once again be promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar. The Fair will also have Cajasiete as official collaborator; the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, Fegastrocan, Fagor and Onnera Group, as collaborators; and Alcampo as official product supplier.
