Families, especially the youngest members of the family, have a fun agenda this weekend at the International Maritime Fair. FIMAR 2023 has reserved a children’s area in its 12,000 square metres in the surroundings of the Santa Catalina Quay with an extensive leisure and informative programme aimed at the children who visit the event. Activities that even include those aimed at children under three years of age.
The children’s plan completes a programme that presents its usual leisure activities at sea and on land, informative talks open to the public with more than twenty experts and sixty companies and institutions linked to the marine, maritime and nautical sectors. Admission to the fair, as well as registration for its activities, is free of charge.
The twelfth edition of the International Sea Fair will be held in the surroundings of the Santa Catalina Quay, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from 16th to 18th June, as an event promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, and organised by the Department of the City of the Sea of the capital of Gran Canaria and Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.
The fun activities that FIMAR has in store for the youngest members are scheduled from 10.30 am to 8 pm on Friday, 16th, and Saturday, 17th June, and from 10.30 am to 3 pm on Sunday, 18th. Children can enjoy themselves with craft workshops, soap bubbles and rackets, and skill and construction games.
Regarding activities, the area will count into four different spaces: Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Arctic.
The first of these, the Atlantic area, is reserved for children from zero to three years of age, with activities and games for early childhood, psychomotor activities, a small slide and ball pools, among other attractions.
The Pacific, Indian and Arctic spaces will have an agenda designed for children from three years of age. The Pacific area offers activities and games for creativity and handicrafts using various materials. Among other things, for the creation of fantasy sea animals.
In the Indian space, multi-sports activities and games are programmed with paddles, a pedal car circuit and skateboards. There are also board games in XL format, such as a giant Sink the Fleet.
Finally, in the Arctic space, the little ones can enjoy educational activities and games, with XL soap bubbles and a unique fishing game, among other entertainments.
Families can participate with the little ones in craft workshops with recycled materials, given by Red PROMAR and programmed between 10:30 and 12:00 on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of June.
Also scheduled for Saturday and Sunday is the handicrafts workshop “What do they transport by ship besides merchandise?” given by the Escuela Superior de la Marina Civil de Gijón.
These activities, like admission to the fair, are free with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum number of participants in each session is ten children plus their companions.
