Planeta Gran Canaria returns to Infecar next week with a 23rd edition full of magic, illusion and adventures for the little ones at home. Promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, the children’s festival, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year by Gran Canarian society, will open its doors next Tuesday, December 26, with a multitude of children’s and educational activities for all ages such as workshops, shows and attractions and with the company of one of the most popular YouTubers in Spain, Mikecrack, and the Gran Canarian gamer ThaNix229.

“Planeta Gran Canaria, one of the most important fairs organized by Infecar, was born to be a space for fun, illusion and fantasy for all the families on the island, a space to share educational leisure activities during these Christmas holidays. This year it returns with a 23rd edition full of entertainment, shared leisure time and varied, attractive and diverse content in which everyone can have their space,” emphasized the president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, this Wednesday during the presentation of the new edition of Planeta Gran Canaria, which will be held until Thursday, January 4, 2024. The president was accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, the general director of Infecar, Natalia Santana, and children from the José Pérez Pérez Primary School in La Feria.

For her part, the island councillor for Economic Development explained that each of the “planets” into which the festival will be divided will try to “contribute to the learning of the boys and girls of Gran Canaria and, therefore, each of the planets will have an educational purpose: there will be activities dedicated to psychomotor development, to the artistic part, to the digital and video games and diversity, among others”. In this vein, the 23rd edition of Planeta Gran Canaria will offer a series of adaptations aimed at improving the experience of children, adolescents and young people with special needs, with respectful schedules in which the intensity of music and lights will be attenuated and priority access to different activities and attractions, among other benefits. The festival’s website contains all the information regarding this Inclusive Planet.

Six different planets will make up this festival’s vast and varied program. The Planet of Light and Color, located at the Congress Palace, will host Mikecrack’s meeting with his followers, where they can challenge him. Miguel Bernal Montes, one of the most successful YouTubers in the country, will be at Planeta Gran Canaria on January 3 and 4 at 12:00 pm and 5:30 pm to sing, converse and challenge some lucky audience members to their favourite video game. The immersive walk ‘The Little Prince’s House’, the magic and environmental shows of the Reciclean team and a musical theatre play for the whole family complete the programming of the Planet of Light and Color.

Planet Challenge, located in the outdoor areas, will feature an American obstacle track, a bicycle circuit, jumping, paintball and bumper cars, and the Lagolandia and Aladdin attractions. Inflatables for all ages, modelling workshops with slime, plastidiver, paper crafts and Christmas desserts will await the little ones on Planet Fun in Infecar Pavilion 5. At the same time, Adventure Planet, in Pavilion 6, will be the space dedicated to the giant games playroom and accessibility, with shows and challenges to overcome as a family.

The skating rink and more workshops to learn about puppets, lettering, and hamma will be located on Recreation Planet, Pavilion 7. Pavilion 7 basement will house ‘Pequelandia’, where children between six months and five years old will develop their creativity and motor skills, in addition to the shows and workshops of the ‘Isleño Songbook’. The last of the six planets in this edition, Digital Planet, also located in Pavilion 7 basement, will become a video game area. The latter will have the presence of the Gran Canarian gamer Tania Santana, known in the virtual world as ThaNix229, on Wednesday, December 27, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Solidarity toy collection campaign ‘+ Que Reyes’

Infecar has launched, in collaboration with Casa de Galicia and within the framework of Planeta Gran Canaria, the solidarity toy donation campaign ‘+ Que Reyes’ so that all attendees who wish can contribute their gifts. The Hall of the Infecar Congress Palace will be the space enabled for delivery on December 26, 27 and 28 at the same time as the festival. The toys donated by visitors, which must be new, non-warlike, and non-sexist, will be delivered to the Casa de Galicia, which is responsible for getting them to the families that need them most.
