Movelec highlights the advantages of switching to electric vehicles on island territories

  • Tomorrow, Sunday, the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show will open from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m

The Electric Vehicle Show of the Canary Islands, Movelec, which is being held at Infecar this weekend, is emphasising this Saturday the advantages the electric vehicle offers, compared to combustion, and the benefits of opting for this mobility in an island territory like ours.

With this seventh edition, we continue to contribute to more sustainable mobility, which advances towards the island’s energy transition. Thus, this morning, the Councillor for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Knowledge of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Raúl García, gave a presentation in which he highlighted that, at present, “half of the electric vehicle fleet in the Canary Islands is on the island of Gran Canaria and this is because there is a series of infrastructures that provide support and ensure peace of mind for all drivers of electric vehicles”.

In this sense, “the numbers show that every year the number of recharges and the number of people who switch to electric mobility is increasing”. Gran Canaria now has 47 facilities within its Island Electric Vehicle Recharging Network, making it the benchmark electric vehicle fleet in the Canary Islands.

In addition to the informative programme, this second day of Movelec welcomes visitors interested in finding out first-hand about the latest models on the electric market, advised by the 47 exhibiting companies taking part in this seventh edition.

In numbers, almost 7,000 square metres of exhibition space occupy the entire exhibition site, and with the presence of the leading brands of cars, motorbikes, bicycles and electric scooters, as well as a network of workshops and services and companies generating energy and 100% electric second-hand vehicles.

The Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show will once again be the chosen venue for the second edition of the AUVE Las Palmas awards, where four categories will be awarded: Institution or company which shows exceptional support and promotion of electric mobility in the public and private sector. Professional career in the sector. Dissemination of electric mobility in the media, social networks, etc.AUVE member who has made a unique contribution to electric mobility.

These awards will be presented at 19.00 hours on Saturday, on the Movelec presentation stage.

On the final day, Movelec will continue with its trade exhibition from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m., complementing the programme of talks and presentations. Tickets for this year’s event can be purchased at www.movelec-canarias.com or the venue’s ticket office for two euros.

Movelec, the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, is promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, organised by Infecar, sponsored by the Gran Canaria Island Energy Council, with Cajasiete as official collaborator, and with AUVE, Faconauto Canarias and the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, as collaborators.
