With the participation of 47 exhibiting companies in a surface area of nearly 7,000 square metres, occupying the entire available space. This is how Movelec, the Electric Vehicle Show of the Canary Islands, opened its doors this Friday, 20 October, and which, until this Sunday, brings together the leading players in the electric mobility industry at Infecar.

With all this, Movelec opens at 20.00 hours this Friday, tomorrow, Saturday, 21 October, from 10.30 to 20.00 hours and Sunday, 22 October, from 10.30 to 15.00 hours. Tickets for this edition can be purchased at www.movelec-canarias.com or the venue’s box office for two euros.

The President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, accompanied by Minerva Alonso, Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Director General of Infecar, Natalia Santana, inaugurated this edition.

“Movelec was created seven years ago to be a reference point for the electric car sector, which is a step forward in line with the environmental proposal that we defend in the Cabildo de Gran Canaria”, said Antonio Morales, who also highlighted the importance of creating a meeting point for electric vehicle users and people interested in owning a vehicle of this type.

In addition, “at the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, we continue to work on the infrastructures necessary to consolidate this model, with 46 charging points of different types on the island and the fastest charging point in the archipelago. It is also worth noting that half of the 18,000 electric vehicles in the Canary Islands are on this island”.

In this way, this edition of the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show has record numbers, being the most complete to date by including cars, motorbikes, bicycles and electric scooters among the participating sectors, as well as a network of workshops and services and companies generating energy and 100% electric second-hand vehicles.

Additionally, “at the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, we continue to work on the necessary infrastructure to consolidate this model. We already have 46 different charging points on the island, including the fastest in the archipelago. Likewise, it is worth highlighting that half of the 18,000 electric vehicles in the Canary Islands are on this island.”

In this way, this edition of the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show presents record numbers, being the most comprehensive to date, including among the participating sectors automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, and electric scooters, as well as a network of workshops and services and companies generating energy and 100% electric second-hand vehicles.

Regarding the informative program of Movelec, it began this very Friday afternoon. It will host lectures and discussion tables throughout the weekend to complement the information for the fair’s attendees. One of the speakers on this first day was Lars Hoffmann, founder of Todo Eléctricos, who reviewed the birth of the electric vehicle as an alternative to the combustion vehicle.

“The main reason we should opt for the electric vehicle, above all its advantages, is the environmental one. We can say it in many possible ways. Still, the only reality is that the increase in CO2 emissions to the atmosphere enhances the presence of this gas worldwide, resulting in global warming that we are already witnessing today,” he stated.

Lectures, discussion tables, driving tests, licensed electric vehicle circuits, and much more complement Movelec’s commercial offer. All information regarding the exhibitors participating in this event and the detailed program of activities is available at www.movelec-canarias.com.

Movelec, the Electric Vehicle Show of the Canary Islands, is promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, organised by Infecar, sponsored by the Energy Council of Gran Canaria; with Cajasiete, as an official collaborator; and with AUVE, Faconauto Canarias and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, as collaborators.
