The site currently has two tenders underway: the Special Development Plan and the construction of the new pavilion.
These works are also part of the challenge of being a sustainable building.
The 2022 calendar presents a wide and varied programme of fairs and events that will combine the on-site and virtual spaces.
The year 2022 begins for the Canary Islands Trade Fair Institution, Infecar, with its sights set on an exciting and promising future. The Cabildo de Gran Canaria is committed to renovating and modernising the area of the Canary Islands Trade Fair Centre, responding to the challenges and new formulas in which trade fair and events activities are carried out, as well as the rest of the activities currently taking place at the centre.
In this sense, two tenders are currently in process that will mark the future of this space. On the one hand, the tender for the new Infecar Special Development Plan, which will prioritise technological innovation, accessibility and versatility of spaces, which will place the venue at the forefront.
On the other hand, the tender for the construction project and project management of a new pavilion and a building for complementary uses for the extension of the Canary Islands Trade Fair Institution, in response to the increase in demand for services and spaces in the area of trade fairs, congresses, work meetings and exhibitions, thus increasing its capacity for growth and competitiveness in the trade fair and congress sector.
In this way, a main pavilion of approximately 8,500 square metres will be incorporated, configured as a single open-plan space; and a building for complementary uses, with a floor area of approximately 1,574 square metres, with 8 floors above ground level and one below ground level, which will have an outdoor and indoor public space, entrance hall, toilets, offices, catering space and facilities.
Companies interested in bidding for this tender have until 7 February 2022 to submit their proposals, which must be registered through the Public Sector Procurement Platform, which can be accessed via the following link:

Finally, it should be noted that as part of the work being carried out by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to develop the ‘ecoisla’ vision, both projects must comply with the construction and execution criteria compatible with the Breeam sustainability certification.
This sustainability certification is part of the collaboration agreement reached in October 2021 between Infecar and Breeam Spain, with the aim of achieving sustainable building certification for buildings in use and new constructions on the site, thus becoming the first trade fair institution in Spain to reach an agreement of this type to work on its certification.
A broad and varied calendar for 2022
With the start of the new year, the Canary Islands Trade Fair Institution has unveiled its calendar of fairs and events for 2022. As has been the case in the previous two years, Infecar is working to offer a proposal that perfectly combines presence with a virtual scenario.
Thus, in February, Canarias Comunica will be back, kicking off the 2022 programme. In March a new edition of ExpoAgro Canarias and ExpoBienestar Canarias will be held, while in April the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair will take place.
The second four-month period of 2022 will begin in May with the holding of the Origins Professional Conferences as part of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, the Gran Canaria Blue Economy Forum and a new appointment with the nautical sector at Fimar. The Palacio de Congresos will also be the venue for LPA Motown this month.
In June Fisaldo will return and the traditional lectures will take place in the Sala Canarias, while in July we will host a new Infecar Conecta. The arrival of September will bring a new Infecar Conecta and the Gran Canaria SUM Festival back to the venue.
Movelec will be held in October, Canagua & Energía and Animundo in November. The end of 2022, in December, will be marked by Planeta Gran Canaria.
With all this, we at the Canary Islands Trade Fair Institution are excited to begin this new year, in which we will continue to work tirelessly thanks to the support of all the people and companies that make our activity possible.
See you at Infecar!
