Infecar welcomes Animundo this weekend with an awareness and animal welfare programme.

  • The actresses Clara Lago and Mónica Cruz will be present at this event, with tickets already on sale in advance at www.animundo.es at the price of 1.50 euros

The fair par excellence for animal lovers is here. This Saturday, 18, and Sunday, 19 November, Animundo, the Companion Animal Fair, celebrates its sixth edition at Infecar with activities focusing on awareness-raising, animal welfare, information and fun.

This Tuesday, 14 November, the Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, presented the event, accompanied by the Councillor for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Knowledge, Raúl García, and the General Manager of Infecar, Natalia Santana.

“After five editions, we at Animundo are approaching this sixth edition of the event with a keen awareness of the impact it has on society, as it is a key event for professionals in the sector in Gran Canaria, but also the nerve centre for knowledge, analysis of trends, best practices and techniques for your pet,” said Alonso.

The Pet Fair, promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar, aims to bring together professionals, families and animal lovers who can find all the products and services for the responsible care of pets in the same space.

In this sense, as is now tradition, one of the programme’s highlights will again be the adoption catwalks sponsored by El Corte Inglés, supported by the Gran Canaria Island Shelter.

“Every year, we attend this fair to raise awareness of adoption and responsible ownership,” said García, who also pointed out that “throughout all the editions of Animundo, we have managed to find a family for 161 dogs. We hope and trust that the 30 dogs that will be parading on this occasion will meet the same fate”.

Natalia Santana, Infecar’s general manager, explained the programme details for Animundo, with tickets already on sale via the website www.animundo.es for 1.50 euros.

Visitors will have 27 exhibitors at their disposal, showing their commercial offer and including sectors such as food, insurance companies, education, fashion, veterinary clinics and centres or associations and animal protection centres.

“This year, we also have a professional day which will be held on the previous evening, Friday 17 November, at the Infecar Conference Centre from 17.00 to 19.00 hours”, Santana pointed out.

This event, free of charge with prior registration on the website www.animundo.es, was created to be a space for debate on current affairs in the sector. The topics will be animal protection, the new Animal Welfare Law, and grief management.

Informative programme of the fair and parallel activities

The Pet Fair programme includes the participation of actresses Clara Lago and Mónica Cruz, renowned animal advocates, who will be giving an inspirational talk about their relationship with animals, followed by an adoption catwalk. Clara Lago will be at Animundo on Saturday, while Mónica Cruz will be at Animundo on Sunday.

In addition to the informative programme, which can be consulted in detail at www.animundo.es, the outdoor exhibitions and the adoption catwalks, this year’s Companion Animal Fair is bringing back the dog parks and pools, with a total of four spaces, two for small breeds and two for larger breeds. In addition, Animundo will have a new children’s area called ‘Anipromesa’, which will run educational and fun activities throughout the weekend, emphasising raising awareness among the family’s youngest members.

Also, on this occasion, “given the growing public interest in finding out more about the new Animal Welfare Law, at Animundo, we will have a space at the information point run by the Las Palmas Official College of Veterinarians to answer questions about this issue,” concluded the director of Infecar.

Animundo is promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, organised by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria; sponsored by El Corte Inglés; with the official collaboration of Cajasiete; and with the collaboration of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, the Island Animal Shelter, the Las Palmas Veterinary Association, Club Granky and Atap.
