Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair will hold four gastronomic contests in its tenth edition

The tenth edition of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, to be held from April 21 to 23 in Infecar, has already launched the registration of applications to participate in its gastronomic competitions. In this 2023 there will be four contests that will take place in the reference fair of the local product and the gastronomy of our land: the Regional Cooking Contest New Talents modality; the Regional Cooking Contest Professional modality; the Regional Sommelier Canary Islands Contest and the Regional Contest of Artisan Pastry and Confectionery.

These contests, which are aimed at participants from all the islands, will keep open the deadline for the reception of applications until Tuesday, March 14 at 11.59 p.m. Those interested in winning any of the awards can register their participation at www.feriagrancanariamegusta.es.

As regards the Regional Cooking Contest, the competition will consist of the preparation and presentation of a dish that identifies and highlights the use of local raw materials, and is aimed at both professionals and new talents, these being the two categories of participation.

In this sense, the Regional Cooking Contest in the modality of New Talents is aimed at students, of legal age, who are in the last year of their studies in the current academic year, in schools and vocational training centers, public or private, in the hospitality branch of the islands.

It will be the schools and vocational training centers that must submit the forms of students interested in participating, although the directors and teachers of schools and training centers may not participate in this category.

Meanwhile, the Regional Cooking Contest in the Professional category will be open to those professionals who have at least one year of experience, in some of the required categories, full time in charge of a kitchen.

Of all the recipes received, the three with the highest scores in the selection phase will be the ones that will compete in the final of the contest, which will take place during the tenth edition of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair.

Canary Islands Regional Sommelier Contest

In order to promote, train and educate, as well as professionalize and disseminate knowledge of the wines and other gastronomic products of the Canary Islands and what they symbolize, the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair launches the second edition of the Regional Sommelier Canary Islands Competition, an appointment marked by the senses in which their production areas, their grape varieties, the style of each winery and all those tasks that make great each of the wine regions of the Canary Islands and the rest of the food and gastronomic products of our islands will be valued.
This contest is aimed at active professional sommeliers, of legal age, who have studied sommelier or are in the practice of the sommelier profession.

Regional Artisan Pastry and Confectionery Contest
A new edition of the sweetest contest returns to the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair. Aimed at professionals of sweet cuisine, pastry and confectionery, in some of the required categories, of legal age, with at least one year of full-time experience.

The competition of the Regional Artisan Pastry and Confectionery Contest will consist of the elaboration and presentation of a dessert that highlights the use of local raw materials.
