Boat rides, pedal skates, sea baptisms and exhibitions of all kinds of boats: the International Sea Fair (FIMAR) presents in its twelfth edition a wide range of leisure activities at sea for the general public. An audience will be able to enjoy these activities free of charge in a fair that is also free to enter and which will take place in a 12,000 square metre area in the surroundings of the Muelle Santa Catalina from the 16th to the 18th of June.
This agenda will have other activities and exhibitions on land in addition to the services and products presented by nearly sixty registered exhibitors. And with an extensive programme of informative talks, also in an open format, by some twenty experts and researchers in the marine, maritime and nautical sectors.
The International Sea Fair is an event promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council and the Port Authority of Las Palmas and organised by the Department of Ciudad de Mar of the capital of Gran Canaria and Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.
Getting to know the Port by sea and land
One of the great attractions of FIMAR for the public will once again be the boat visits to the Port of Las Palmas. The first one will be for Friday, 16th June, at 13:00 hours. For Saturday, 17th June, several of these excursions have been scheduled, from 10:00 to 17:00 hours, with departures every hour on the hour. And on Sunday, 18th June, four more are planned, at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00.
The estimated duration of these excursions by sea within the port area is 75 minutes. To participate in them, interested public members should go to the departure dock located at Muelle Santa Catalina. No prior registration: places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
As a complement, FIMAR also offers free land tours in the Port of Las Palmas area, with the tourist bus (a service provided in the city by the City Sightseeing company). These buses will have four departures on Friday, 16th June (at 11:00, 13:00, 16:30 and 18:00 hours); two on Saturday, 17th June (at 16:30 and 1(:00 hours): and another two on Sunday, 18th June (at 11:00 and 13:00 hours).
Friday, 16th June
The day of Friday, 16th June, begins with Sailing and Lateen Sailing sea baptisms, scheduled from 10:00 to 10:30 hours. Adapted Sailing will also be a protagonist in this edition of FIMAR: on the same Friday, from 11:30 to 12:30 hours, with the Real Club Náutico de Gran Gran Canaria.
From 13:00 hours, the Canary Islands Air Command will have a helicopter rescue exhibition, one of the most spectacular activities of the fair, which will bring the public closer to the vital work carried out by this institution.
The sea baptisms will continue in the afternoon, from 15:30 to 18:30, with the Insular Sailing Federation, the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and Adapted Sailing. And at the same time, there will be the first pedal skate rides, from which bathing is not allowed but offers an interesting novelty to the audience that travels to the Muelle Santa Catalina.
Also, in the afternoon, there will be an exhibition of dinghy sailing with the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and the Club Varadero.
Saturday, 17th June
Saturday morning at FIMAR will begin with a regatta exhibition of Vela Latina Sailing dinghies from 10:00 to 12:00. From 10:30 to 12:30. There will continue to be Sailing and Lateen Sailing sea baptisms. Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle, Radio Control, Vela Latina and Dinghy Sailing exhibitions are also scheduled for the exact timetable. And a new display at sea, this time with Lateen Sailing boats. The morning section is completed with an exhibition of Radio Control boats with the Club Los Guaires.
On Saturday afternoon, between 15:30 and 18:00 hours, the Calypso Club’s sea baptisms will take centre stage. As well as new rides on the water in pedal skates and an exhibition of Wake Foil and IQ Foil (windsurfing) and WINDFOIL, weather permitting.
Sunday, 18th June
On the last day of FIMAR, there will be no shortage of sailing sea baptisms (from 10:00 to 3:30), pedal skate rides (from 10:30 to 14:00) or a new Radio Control exhibition with the Los Guaires Club (from 16:30 to 17:30).
However, there will also be other interesting attractions at sea. These include the parents’ regatta of the Alejandro Da Silva 2023 Sailing Trophy (from 10:30 to 12:30), the Great Nautical Parade of Light Sailing (from 11:30 to 13:00) and the exhibition regattas of the Under 30 cruisers (from 13:00 to 14:30).
Remember that these activities, like the entrance to the International Sea Fair, are free of charge.
Food trucks and a playground for children
Remember that FIMAR will also have a food truck catering area for the public. There will also be a children’s area, with different educational and fun activities for children over three and others designed for under-threes.
Informative talks
FIMAR 2023 will also have a specific area for talks and informative sessions, which will be given by more than twenty experts and researchers, with a large representation of teachers and scientists from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
You can see the information about these open sessions on the official FIMAR website at https://feriainternacionaldelmar.com/programacion-charlas-y-talleres.
Activities before FIMAR

It will take place from 19:30 to 15:30. The conference is also included in the FIMAR 2023 programme as a complementary action.
The same venue will host, on 14th June, from 9:30 to 14:00, the technical seminar of the partners of the European DATALAB project under the leadership of the municipal company SAGULPA.
