- The vehicle of the JCQuintana MotorSport team will display the image of the I Congress and Fair of Physical Activity and Sport of the Canary Islands in various national championship events starting next week
With this support, the great sports industry fair in the Canary Islands showcases its commitment to the motor world in the year before the arrival of the World Rally Championship to the islands
The vehicle of the JCQuintana MotorSport team, driven by the Gran Canarian Juan Carlos Quintana, will display the image of ExpoDeca, the I Congress and Fair of Physical Activity and Sport of the Canary Islands, starting next week in various events of the Spanish Rally Championship on Gravel. This event is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through its Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, and organized by Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria, and will take place from November 14 to 17 in the capital of Gran Canaria.
This major sports fair on the islands, which will serve as a meeting point for the entire sector, already has its machinery in motion, both in the design of its program and the promotion of the event. As part of these promotional actions, the image of ExpoDeca will adorn the vehicle of the JCQuintana MotorSport team in the Spanish Rally Championship on Gravel starting next week, with the Rally Isla de los Volcanes in Lanzarote.
At the unveiling of the new image of the vehicle, held at the Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria facilities on Tuesday morning, present the Deputy Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Sabroso; the Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso; the President of the Las Palmas Automobile Federation, Miguel Ángel Domínguez; and Francisco Perera, Mayor of the Gran Canarian municipality of Tejeda and sponsor of the team.
Quintana is one of the current figures on the national circuit, been a regular since 2016, the year in which he was already runner-up in Group N. The following year he won this championship, as well as the Evocup. In 2018, he was champion again in the Evocup, and in 2019, in the N5 RMC Cup. In 2021, he was also runner-up in the Spanish Rally Championship on Gravel, a championship he finally won in 2022. The pilot, who also has an extensive collection of victories in the Canary Islands, presented this morning his new Ford Fiesta Rally 2, which Ford’s official WRV preparer, MS Sport, has just released from its factory, and which will start displaying the image of ExpoDeca in Lanzarote.
Juan Carlos Quintana highlighted that it is “a pride and we are very excited to be able to carry the name of ExpoDeca throughout the Canary Islands and the peninsula,” while encouraging “everyone to visit this event in November because it will be an incredible experience.” Additionally, he announced that the car will be exhibited in several shopping centres on the island, where various raffles will be held “so that the winners can experience the same sensations as a co-pilot.” “I think we are going to make quite a noise with ExpoDeca and I believe it will be very positive for the motor world and all the citizens.” Finally, he stated that his goal this season is “to do our best.”
The Popular Aspect of ExpoDeca
Minerva Alonso emphasized that “for the island of Gran Canaria, it is very important to start with this first edition of ExpoDeca, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands, where Infecar also contributes.”
The island councillor indicated that “with today’s event we promote the motor world, our pilot, and our fair, which will be held in November.” “I think it will be a good fair, where we will receive the support of the people,” Alonso added, “because sports are deeply rooted in our culture, and here we can also express part of our identity. We will have a large number of activities here, and the Infecar team will put all their experience into making it the best possible.” Regarding ExpoDeca’s connection with motorsports, she commented that “in Gran Canaria, motorsports are important; we have several competitions a year, and in my case, I am also responsible for authorizations by municipalities. It is a modality that is widely practised on the island.” Alonso observed that “there will be much more at this fair, also with traditional sports. We encourage the public to join because ExpoDeca will not only have a significant technical aspect; its popular side will be very important.”
The First Great Sports Fair in the Canary Islands
Sabroso, for his part, described ExpoDeca as “the great theme park of sports,” explaining that this event, the first of its kind on the islands, will serve as “a great meeting point for the industry in the Canary Islands,” while announcing that “there will be a huge sporting and physical activity offer that we will make available to all citizens.”
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister confirmed, through this act, the Government of the Canary Islands’ support “for the motor world, with a champion like Juan Carlos Quintana, and his Motor Sports team,” recalling that “we will be present in one of the most important sports modalities we have on our land, one of those with the most licenses, and one that arouses the most passions in our archipelago, with an innovative car with which we will start at the Rally Isla de los Volcanes in Lanzarote.”
In this regard, he emphasized that “we will have a champion like Juan Carlos Quintana carrying the name of ExpoDeca through all the national championship events, but also starring in promotional actions at key points of our archipelago,” an initiative that will “open the motor world to citizens, offering co-pilot experiences with Juan Carlos himself.”
Competition and Promotion
After participating in the Rallye Isla de los Volcanes, Quintana’s vehicle will be displayed in several shopping centres in Gran Canaria during the summer. In these promotional actions, as well as through the ExpoDeca website www.expodeca.es, motor sports fans can register to participate in raffles where they can win co-pilot experiences, scheduled for next October at the Maspalomas circuit.
Quintana will continue competing in various national events with ExpoDeca’s colours until the vehicle returns next November to be present at the I Congress and Fair of Physical Activity and Sport of the Canary Islands, which will be held at Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria.
With this action alongside Juan Carlos Quintana, ExpoDeca also makes its connection with motorsports visible within what will be the great sports industry fair on the islands, where motorsports will be a key element in the fair’s program, essential in the island’s sporting imagination, and with special significance in a year anticipating the arrival of the World Rally Championship to the Canary Islands in 2025.
