• The Minister of Economic Development met with the collective of artisans to present them with the innovations she has planned for this legislature to “modernize the Fedac and continue to promote the sector”

The Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, met with the artisans registered in the Fedac on Tuesday to explain the planning for this new legislature, for which decisions have been made with the aim of “modernizing the Fedac and contributing to further improving the health of the sector,” as she told them in this meeting. She announced that from now on, Infecar will be in charge of the Craft Fairs as a specialized organization in the organization of fairs. “The idea is for them to contribute their knowledge and specialized personnel to improve the objective of the fair, which is ultimately to attract more people and increase sales.”

In this regard, the Fedac will gradually withdraw from commercialization and, in the meantime, according to the Minister, it will undergo internal changes, starting with the renewal of its image to “modernize, continue to improve, and enhance its capacity to serve the sector.”

In another matter, the Minister also announced changes in the subsidy model, which will be unified around two main lines: municipalities and associations. There is also the intention to introduce artisans into educational centres so that, just as they currently do through cities, they can offer courses that bring craftsmanship closer to the young population, in this case, students.

Furthermore, she engaged in a lengthy conversation with the artisans, listening to their demands and proposals and gathering the collective’s sentiment. They raised issues such as proposing to municipalities to always request the Fedac quality seal at the fairs and exhibitions they organize to ensure they are distinguished in these spaces.
