DigiON Canarias, the Canary Islands Business Digitalization Fair, cements its place in the Infecar trade fair and event calendar, celebrating its second edition on the 21st and 22nd of February, 2024. This professional and multisectoral event promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, aims to bring together the latest digital solutions and technological innovation in one place, thus driving the digital transformation of Canarian companies. DigiON Canarias will delve into the digital transformation process to boost the main lines of technological innovation, socio-economic and business development, economic modernization, social progress, and the promotion of the local sector, including in the field of tourism and linked to attracting foreign investment.
In its first edition, which took place in March 2023, this Canary Islands Business Digitalization Fair brought together about 800 participants and more than thirty exhibitors, who presented their proposals in a professional, multisectoral event designed to meet the need for digital solutions and technological innovation. DigiON Canarias repeats its format this time, featuring an exhibition area, presentations, professional networking spaces, information on digital solutions, funding lines, and assistance for business digitalization.
World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Competitions
As part of the DigiON Canarias celebration on the 19th and 20th of February 2024, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fair, are joining forces again to embark on a mission to leverage the immense potential of the tourism industry, reinventing the future of hotels, new business models, and platforms through the UNWTO Startup Competition for Tourism Technologies and Solutions in Hotels and New Business Models, powered by Infecar.
The application period opened on December 4, 2023, and will close on January 29, 2024. The competition has two categories: ‘Innovations in Digital Hospitality and New Business Models’, exploring pioneering technologies and strategies transforming the digital landscape and operational efficiency of hotels and related hospitality tourism businesses, and ‘Impact on Sustainability’, focused on comprehensive sustainability in the tourism and hotel industry.
Interested startups must meet the requirements described in section 4 of the document here and complete the registration form.
With this, the winning startups will have the opportunity to present their solution in the UNWTO Startup Competition for Tourism Technologies and Solutions in Hotels and New Business Models, becoming members of the UNWTO Innovation Network, among others.
Finally, registrations to participate as an exhibitor are now open on the event website DigiON Canarias.
The Canary Islands Business Digitalization Fair, DigiON Canarias, is promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, thanks to the support of the official partner Cajasiete, the collaboration of the Sociedad de Promoción Económica de Gran Canaria; Canarias Excelencia Tecnológica; the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, and the participation of the UNWTO World Tourism Organization.
