The Companion Animal Fair, Animundo, has closed the doors of its fifth edition with the satisfaction of continuing to contribute to raising awareness of animal welfare. More than 2,000 people came to Infecar over the weekend to show their commitment to the animal world.
Promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Animundo has become year after year the reference point for professionals, families and animal lovers, who can find in a single venue all the products and services for the responsible care of pets (in no case the sale of animals).
The general manager of Infecar, Natalia Santana, pointed out that “one more year Animundo has fulfilled the objective of bringing the needs for animal care and welfare closer to all citizens through the exhibitors present at this event, in addition to having a varied program of talks and workshops in which to listen to specialists dedicated to animal care and protection”.
“It is also worth highlighting the work done by the Animal Shelter of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. We, with Animundo, try to give them a space in which to bring society closer to the reality and the day-to-day of their work in a tangible way, and we are happy to know that the dogs that parade through our adoption catwalks get a family, but we would love it if awareness of animal abandonment were such that this catwalk would not have a reason to exist”, said Natalia Santana.
On this occasion, Animundo had four groups of exhibitors, on the one hand, services for animals; on the other, food stores and products for their enjoyment; as well as animal welfare and professional training services, which exhibited their products during the weekend, allowing animal lovers to enjoy a common space.
With all this, Animundo has once again become a loudspeaker for the Animal Shelter of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, in which to bring the public closer to the reality of abandoned animals, who are waiting every day to find a second chance. In this case, the fair, through its adoption walkways, has managed to find a responsible home for some of them but, above all, it has been essential to raise awareness among the population about the responsibility of having an animal.
“The intention and the main objective of Animundo is that people do not buy animals, to spread the need to adopt dogs and not to abandon them, having the possibility of managing everything with the Island Animal Shelter of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria at the fair itself and with the satisfaction of giving these animals a second chance”, said Manuel Amador, general director of the Department of the Environment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
This new edition of Animundo has had the official collaboration of Cajasiete; and the collaboration of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria; the Official College of Veterinarians of Las Palmas; the Insular Animal Shelter; the Granky Club and ATAP Canarias.
