  • The Portuguese city of Viana Do Castelo, with an extensive maritime tradition, will be the guest city in 2024
  • The International Maritime Fair will take place on June 7, 8 and 9 in the Port of Las Palmas at the Muelle Sanapú
The event once again offers a broad program of leisure activities for citizens, with boat tours, ship visits, talks, professional meetings, children’s activities and dining areas

The International Maritime Fair is already shaping its exhibition offer for its 13th edition, which will take place on June 7, 8, and 9 at the Muelle Sanapú, between the Poema del Mar aquarium and the Pasarela Onda Atlántica. Fimar 2024 already has more than 40 registered exhibitors and sixty planned stands in this new location, and it will again be a great event for the blue economy in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the island of Gran Canaria.

The International Maritime Fair is promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, in a fair organized by the City of Mar council of the city and Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fair.

Public and academic institutions and entities, sports clubs, citizen organizations and companies in the maritime sector make up the group of exhibitors that have already confirmed their presence at Sanapú to the organization, broadly representing the blue economy in Gran Canaria.
A sector that experiences its great gathering at this annual event to showcase the evolution of its activities related to the ocean environment, provide support for initiatives being developed in this context, disseminate advances and research currently being carried out, and present the business models and products marketed by the companies present.

Fimar is still keeping the exhibitor recruitment period open, with a registration procedure that can be accessed through its official website at the link

Guest City

In recent editions, having a guest city has become a characteristic feature of Fimar, in line with expanding the horizons of the blue economy in Gran Canaria and strengthening ties with other towns with a solid connection to the ocean. Viana do Castelo will be the foreign city at the fair on this occasion.

This coastal town in northern Portugal validly references the so-called Green Coast, whose history is linked to fishing (mainly cod) and the great Portuguese maritime discoveries. With a presence in which surfing is not lacking, and its port plays a prominent role in the region, Viana do Castelo becomes a most appropriate guest for this new edition of Fimar in 2024.

Leisure Offer for Citizens

In parallel with its institutional and commercial offer, Fimar will once again present a wide range of options for citizen leisure throughout the fair next June, from a dining area to the usual visits to the Navy’s Maritime Action Ships or the vessels of the Maritime Rescue.

Similarly, the organization will offer boat rides on the port’s water surface so that attendees can discover the port facility from the sea. Like access to the fair, these excursions will be free of charge. However, no prior registration will be required: the public will enjoy them on a strict first-come, first-served basis.

Fimar will also set up a particular area for the younger audience. That is, an area reserved for games and children’s activities, in line with an event that in previous editions has established itself as an exciting alternative for family leisure.

On upcoming dates, the organization will announce the program of informative talks open to the public: free-access sessions related to research and scientific activity at sea, the blue economy or the different water sports and activities.
