102 artisans will participate in the 29th edition of the San Telmo Craft Fair.

  • The traditional Christmas event promoted by Fedac will be organized for the first time by Infecar and will debut a new image and website

The 29th edition of the ‘Gran Canaria Craft Fair, San Telmo’ will feature a record number of participating artisans – 102, of which nine are participating for the first time, representing up to 34 different crafts – and also debuts a new image – combining tradition and innovation – and a new website. Indeed, the traditional Christmas event that Fedac promotes every year will be organized for the first time by Infecar, as explained by the Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts, Minerva Alonso, during the presentation, accompanied by the General Director of Infecar, Gran Canaria Fair, Natalia Santana.

“The two areas will collaborate to make the most important Gran Canaria Craft Fair of the annual calendar – by number of artisans, public attendance, and sales figures – an even greater success, combining the experience and good work of each entity in its area,” the Minister explained.

Therefore, the event will occur from January 2 to 5th, 2024, in the usual space, San Telmo Square, from 10:00 to 21:00 until January 4, and the closing will be extended until 23:00 on January 5. There, the 102 artisans will be exhibiting and selling their products – of the 34 represented crafts, ten are traditional and 24 contemporary – taking advantage of the importance of this space as an open shopping centre and nerve centre of communications in the capital of the island, with what this means for the reactivation of the local economy and the artisan sector.

A sector coming from all corners of the island: Among the 102 artisans, 20 municipalities of Gran Canaria are represented. Forty-two come from the capital, eight from Agüimes, seven from Telde, six from San Bartolomé de Tirajana, five from Arucas, five from Ingenio, four from Santa Lucía, four from Santa Brígida, four from Valsequillo, three from Agaete, three from Teror, two from Mogán, two from Gáldar, and one from Artenara, Firgas, La Aldea de San Nicolas, Moya, San Mateo, Santa Maria de Guía, and Valleseco.

In this sense, the Minister did not want to miss the opportunity to encourage the public to come and enjoy the offer and the entertainment included in the program – such as storytellers or the musical performances of Arístides Moreno, Los Faycanes, La Trova, and Non Trubada – and to make some of their Christmas purchases.

New Image and New Website for the Gran Canaria Craft Fairs

In addition, in this 29th edition, the Fair debuts a new visual identity that, as explained by the General Director of Infecar, combines tradition and innovation through cubism, representing artisanal diversity, promoting innovation and creativity, and connecting cultural heritage with contemporaneity.

“The goal of this new image is to convey the richness and originality of Gran Canaria’s crafts, to attract not only local visitors but also tourists in love with our culture,” Santana assured.

Another novelty is the new website feriasartesaniagrancanaria.es, where visitors can find all the information related to the 29th edition of the San Telmo Fair – the participating artisans and the programming – but also get to know the information about the upcoming Gran Canaria Craft Fairs of 2024, the Spring South Craft Fair to be held from March 15 to 24, and the Summer Maspalomas Lighthouse Craft Fair to be held from August 9 to 18, 2024.

In short, the collaboration that starts with this 29th edition of the Gran Canaria San Telmo Craft Fair between Fedac as the promoter of the event and Infecar as the organizer promises to take the event a step further, in the spirit of “continuing to grow professionally and commercially alongside the artisans, who ultimately represent an intangible asset of incalculable value in our culture,” the Minister assured.
