This is a professional competition, aimed at pastry chefs, confectioners, batch managers or master bakers of legal age, with at least one year’s full-time experience.
The registration period will be open until 11.59 pm on Thursday 10 March.

The sweetest competition of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair is already underway. For the first time, in this ninth edition, which will take place from 29 April to 1 May, the 1st Regional Artisan Pastry and Confectionery Competition will be held, an appointment between rods and pastry sleeves, which is aimed at professionals in the sector.

Confectioners, confectioners, batch managers or master bakers, of legal age and with at least one year’s full-time experience, who are interested in taking part in this competition, can register until 11.59 pm on Thursday 10 March. The competition will consist of the preparation and presentation of a dessert that highlights the use of local raw materials.

Of all the recipes received, the three with the highest number of points will be the ones to compete in the final of the competition. The finalist recipes will be communicated to the contestants from Monday 21st March and will go through to the final, which will take place on Saturday 30th April, during the morning hours of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair.

The prize for the winner of this first edition of the Regional Artisan Pastry and Confectionery Competition Gran Canaria Me Gusta will be a Training Programme at the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences of the Basque Culinary Center valued at three thousand euros; while the second and third place winners will receive distinctions.

Those interested in taking part in the competition must complete the entry form on the website www.feriagrancanariamegusta.es and must also attach a video presentation and demonstration of their technical skills, according to their speciality, as well as a detailed recipe and a photo of the final result. The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair will once again be promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar. The Fair will also have Spar Gran Canaria as sponsor, Cajasiete as official collaborator; the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, Fegastrocan, and Fagor Profesional, as collaborators; and Alcampo as official product supplier.
