Planeta Gran Canaria returns this Christmas with its 24th edition full of fun and solidarity.

  • Infecar will host this festival from December 26th to January 4th, offering a program packed with recreational and educational activities for the whole family
  • The event also reinforces its social commitment by collaborating with the Food Bank of Las Palmas through a significant collection of essential products

Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fairground, is again preparing to host the most anticipated event for children on the island. From December 26, 2024, to January 4, 2025, the 24th edition of Planeta Gran Canaria will transform the venue into a magical and fun space filled with recreational and educational activities to share with the family.

Once again, “Planeta Gran Canaria becomes a space for leisure, enjoyment, and meeting during the Christmas season for families and children of Gran Canaria. We hope they come not only to enjoy educational leisure but also to learn values and solidarity,” said Minerva Alonso, Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts for the Gran Canaria Island Council, during the presentation of this new festival edition. The event also featured participation from two sixth-grade classes from CEIP José Pérez y Pérez in La Feria.

Infecar’s director, Natalia Santana, explained, “Planeta Gran Canaria will offer a wide range of activities divided into six themed areas.” These activities include outdoor features such as inflatable castles, a bike circuit, the traditional parade, and indoor activities hosted across various halls and the Congress Palace, where theatre performances will take place.

The festival will centre on children and youth through areas like Planeta Desafío, featuring attractions that test participants’ skills; Planeta Luz y Color, with theatrical and musical performances; Planeta Diversión, offering inflatables and workshops; Planeta Recreo, focusing on sports and arts; Planeta Digital, dedicated to video games; and Planeta Aventura, which includes playrooms and themed spaces.

The event will also feature a Planeta Inclusivo (Inclusive Planet) initiative. The organization has accounted for the needs of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Generalized Developmental Disorder, or other special needs. From 10:00 to 11:00 and from 15:30 to 16:30 each day, the venue’s lights and music will be dimmed so people with sensory alterations can enjoy the event. Entry will also be facilitated for individuals with certified disabilities, who will receive priority access to activities and attractions, reserved seating for theatrical performances, and options for Spanish Sign Language interpretation upon request.

In addition to the six main areas, Infecar has organized several side activities, including special sessions with popular YouTubers Timba Vk and Mondongo, who will meet with fans on January 3rd and 4th at 12:00. Tickets for these sessions, priced at €6.50, include access to the main festival as well as the show.

Planeta Gran Canaria strengthened its social mission this year by collaborating with the Food Bank of Las Palmas. Throughout the festival, attendees can contribute non-perishable goods at the entrance to Infecar to support vulnerable populations. “The solidarity aspect of Planeta Gran Canaria is a constant,” said Minister Minerva Alonso, inviting attendees to participate in this initiative.

The event, which will only close its doors on December 31st, will also feature a large food court, where 12 food trucks and stalls will offer a diverse range of culinary experiences from 10:00 to 20:30 (except on January 1st, when it will open only in the afternoon).

Tickets are available at planetagrancanaria.es and can be purchased at the venue’s ticket office. General admission is €5, while children under three years old, unemployed individuals, pensioners, and people with disabilities can attend for free. Discounts are available for group purchases, with a rate of €4 per person for groups of 4 and €3.50 per person for groups of 10.

Planeta Gran Canaria is promoted and funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council and organized by Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fairground. It is supported by Fundación Disa, Isola, El Corte Inglés, and collaborators such as Cajasiete, the Food Bank of Las Palmas, the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, and El Paraguas Events.
