Gran Canaria, September 26, 2025. ExpoBienestar Canarias kicked off today with several practical workshops related to nutrition, sports, and personal leadership, where participants acquired tools to achieve personal well-being that can be applied in the workplace.

With her talk ‘Mindful eating: what you can do every day to take care of your health,’ Stephanie Degner, a specialist in nutrition and cancer, opened the first day of this ninth edition by inviting attendees to “listen more to our bodies,” starting with simple steps. “Every meal is an opportunity to make good choices,” said the nutritionist while offering tools to “learn to relate to food” and ensure that “eating healthy is not a punishment.”

Among Degner’s advice was eating more vegetables, raw or cooked; staying well hydrated; and trying to ensure that sugar doesn’t appear among the first five ingredients listed on a product label, where compounds are ordered by quantity. “All nutrients serve a function in our body, but poor nutrition can affect us in the future,” she added. In this regard, in addition to strength training, good sleep hygiene, and balanced mental health, Degner emphasised nutrition as the fourth pillar for overall well-being.

Next, Verónica Reyes and Leticia Robaina combined their specialities to work on coherence between each person’s inner and outer self. Verónica Reyes focused on decisions, beliefs, and internal processes, while Leticia Robaina explained how to reflect those inner beliefs in external image, also understood as a projection of what one thinks and feels. “Both what we have internally and externally is what gives us authenticity, an essence, and makes us who we are,” said Leticia.

In a theoretical-practical workshop, the coaches explained that decisions, from the simplest day-to-day ones to the most important ones that can change one’s life, “must be made consciously; that’s what makes the difference and brings us closer to results, both personally and professionally,” assured Verónica. Meanwhile, as Robaina explained, image can become a barrier when one doesn’t know how to express what they feel, limiting work or personal opportunities, such as applying for a new job, starting a business, or even participating in social events.

Thus, the speakers helped participants integrate concepts to understand the importance of this coherence, while also providing useful and easy-to-apply tools for their daily lives through various practical exercises, “because everything you experience that has an impact always endures.”

In the afternoon, ExpoBienestar Canarias will hold three complementary sessions: the workshop ‘Lead your m² to transform your environment,’ with Fayna Betancor, focused on personal leadership as a transformative engine; ‘Get your health moving: strategies for a more active life,’ by Rubén Rubio, which will address the physical and emotional benefits of exercise and its preventive role against diseases; and ‘Couples, stress and work: how to prevent professional pace from breaking personal bonds (and vice versa),’ taught by Beatriz Uche, which will offer tools to balance personal and work life through healthy boundaries and reconnection rituals.

The event will continue tomorrow, Saturday, September 27, with a day of highly interesting talks, hosted by actress and presenter Yaiza Guimaré, featuring renowned speakers such as Rafael Santandreu, César Martín, Elsa Punset, the Futurlife21 team, and Marc Masip, who will address key issues around mental health, emotional intelligence, work-life balance, and digital wellness.

ExpoBienestar Canarias is an event promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, with the collaboration of CajaSiete and Agapea bookstore.
