The Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, MOVELEC, is preparing to welcome companies, professionals and individuals interested in electric mobility on 18 and 19 April at the Agüimes Exhibition Centre.
“Gran Canaria is currently leading electric mobility in the Canary Islands; 57% of electric vehicle sales in the archipelago take place on our island, and that is certainly no coincidence,” said the Councillor for Environment, Climate, Energy and Knowledge, Raúl García Brink, who highlighted the Cabildo de Gran Canaria’s “clear commitment to the energy transition through the deployment of an island-wide charging network and strong support for transport electrification.” “Gran Canaria is not only part of the energy transition and the shift towards electric mobility, it is actually leading it,” he added.
In this context, MOVELEC stands as the ideal platform to present to society “the latest developments in electric mobility, its environmental and energy-saving benefits, as well as the available purchase incentives,” and to convey the message of “promoting an eco-island free of CO₂ emissions,” stated the Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts, Minerva Alonso.
In its ninth edition, the Electric Vehicle Show debuts a new venue while maintaining its aim of positioning itself as a meeting point between the industry and non-professional attendees interested in sustainable mobility. Over the course of two days, both groups will have the opportunity to explore the latest technological developments in the sector, establish business contacts and learn about the current offerings of companies operating in the market.
Companies specialising in 100% electric vehicles, distributors, workshops and specialised services, as well as renewable energy installers and charging solution providers, associations and institutions, will once again take part in this event, which continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark for electric mobility in the Canary Islands. The show offers companies representing the entire value chain the opportunity to showcase their products and services related to sustainable transport; while for industry professionals and individuals interested in zero-emission driving, the event serves as an ideal meeting point to discover the latest technological innovations, the current range of vehicles and the complementary services required for sustainable mobility, as well as information on the different incentives available for purchasing electric vehicles.
In addition, MOVELEC will once again feature experts who will share their insights on electric driving through a series of talks and round tables. Over the two-day event, topics such as the evolution of charging infrastructure in Spain, energy communities as an integrated model with electric mobility, the electrification of taxi fleets, flash charging, and, more broadly, the current situation and challenges of electric mobility in the Canary Islands will be addressed.
As a new feature, the show will include six freely accessible driving simulators and, as a highlight activity, efficient electric driving courses will be held on both days. These courses will allow visitors to learn everything they need to know about electric vehicles, including battery charging optimisation, regenerative braking and driving modes. The courses include informative talks delivered throughout the event, complemented by practical driving sessions with specialised instructors. Registration for these courses is free and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Information about these driving courses, as well as the conference programme and the list of participating companies, is available on the official website https://movelec-canarias.com/, where visitors can also register free of charge to attend this key event dedicated to electric vehicles.
Promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, MOVELEC is sponsored by the Island Energy Council and supported by Cajasiete, the Agüimes City Council and the Electric Vehicle Users Association (AUVE).
