- The Reference Event for the Renewable Energy and Water Sectors in the Canary Islands to Take Place from Wednesday, November 27 to Friday, November 29
Now in its 14th edition, the International Canagua and Energy Fair will bring together key players in the energy and water sectors from the regional and national landscape at Infecar. This flagship clean energy and water event will feature 89 exhibiting entities and offer a comprehensive program of technical sessions, business meetings, and an exhibition area.
This morning, Raúl García, Councilor for Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge; Miguel Hidalgo, Councilor for the Primary Sector of the Gran Canaria Council; Natalia Santana, Director General of Infecar; and Baltasar Peñate, Chair of the Organizing Committee for the International Canagua and Energy Fair, officially presented the event to the media.
“This fair is an opportunity to learn about and explore the latest developments in the water and energy sectors, offering a space open to the general public but with a particular focus on the business community of the Canary Islands,” Peñate remarked.
Raúl García highlighted the collaboration between the two councils, through the Island Energy Council and the Island Water Council, and their work alongside Infecar to ensure the fair’s success. “In an island territory heavily reliant on water and energy, we must strive for maximum efficiency, and this event serves as a critical opportunity for companies and professionals in the sector to advance in this direction,” he stated.
Miguel Hidalgo emphasized that “the Canary Islands’ experience is an exportable development model, offering small- and medium-scale solutions for global challenges. Our expertise in integrated water cycle management and renewable energy utilization makes this fair an outstanding platform to share these approaches.”
Event Highlights
This year’s edition will host 89 exhibitors, evenly split between the water and energy sectors. The remainder will represent services such as eco-island solutions, mobility, and consultancy.
Exhibitors will also have access to the “Speakers’ Corner,” sponsored by Bet Solar, where they can directly present their projects, products, or services to other exhibitors and professional visitors. The full program is available on the fair’s website, www.canagua.es.
Admission to the fair is free and can be secured through the website. While the event has a strong professional focus, it also welcomes the general public, recognizing the growing interest in renewable energy solutions. Canagua will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
Technical Program
In addition to the exhibition area, the 14th edition of Canagua will feature a varied program of technical sessions sponsored by Green Efficient, addressing the most current topics in the water-energy nexus.
The sessions focused on energy will take place on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, starting with the inaugural presentation at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, titled “Energy as a Driver of Change: A Proposal for Economic Transformation through Energy — From Scarcity to Abundance,” by Joan Herrera, co-founder of SAMSO and a specialist in Energy Law. Herrera, who has also served as Director of IDAE, is currently dedicated to advancing the energy transition, renewable energy deployment, and community energy projects.
The energy program will also include other notable presentations, such as Pedro Fresco’s session on “Myths and Misconceptions about the Energy Transition ” and a roundtable discussion on the “Island Energy Revolution,” featuring contributions from the Island Water Councils of Tenerife, La Gomera, and La Palma.
The water-focused sessions will take place on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. These will include four roundtables discussing key current issues in the water sector, such as “Strategies and Projects for Digitalizing the Integrated Water Cycle,” “The Water-Energy Nexus: Water as an Energy Resource,” “Costs vs. Prices of Water in the Canary Islands: From Theory to Practice,” and “Integrated and Portable Solutions for Addressing Drought Challenges.”
