The excellence of Gran Canaria’s local products unfolds from today, Friday, until this Sunday, April 21st at Infecar, on the occasion of the 11th edition of the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta. Gastronomic exhibitions, tastings, contests, workshops, 81 exhibiting companies with direct product sales, and 19 municipalities make up the program of this event that opened its doors at 9:30 am this Friday with great anticipation.
Promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts and the Ministry of Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty and Water Security, the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta celebrates its 11th edition this year, highlighting the traditions of the primary sector, the products of our land, and industrial production in the archipelago as a boost to the economy.
The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, inaugurated the Fair this morning, accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts, Minerva Alonso; the Minister of the Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty and Water Security, Miguel Hidalgo; the General Director of Infecar, Natalia Santana; and a broad representation of mayors of the island, sponsors, and collaborators of this eleventh edition.
“This is the showcase of the primary sector of our island. A space, not only for sensitization and awareness about the consumption of local products but also, an opportunity for commercialization,” Antonio Morales pointed out. “This year we have 81 companies and 19 municipalities from the island,” he noted, which translates “into a vision of a united island, with business associations, entrepreneurs, producers, and municipalities, that give an image of the enhancement of Gran Canaria’s primary sector, key for the economic diversification of the island.”
By noon this Friday, about 2,000 people had already toured the different spaces of the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta, directly discovering the products of the 81 companies present in this edition and enjoying a broad program of activities that, led by experts, will unveil the particularities of our products, their production, and processing, enhancing their identity.
A great kitchen to demonstrate cooking skills
The Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta focuses on the gastronomic work being done locally by great chefs from the archipelago in this eleventh edition, who will delight attendees in the gastronomic exhibitions. Chef David Ginás, from the Canaryfusion Gastronomic Club Association, was responsible for inaugurating the stoves of this edition, preparing tollos with a potato mousse.
Following him, Lorena Machín and Arabisen Quintero, from the restaurant Casa Juan de El Hierro, led an exhibition in which the pineapple from the Meridian Island was the great protagonist, in recognition of a product in constant recovery. Also, Humberto Rodríguez and Narciso Molina de la Fe, from an emblematic restaurant of the Gran Canarian capital like El Padrino, got to work with a presentation in which they returned to the roots of their Canarian origins.
The final touch of this first day of the Fair will be the award ceremony of the XVII Official Contest of Honeys of Gran Canaria 2022, presented by Victorio Pérez.
Thus, the program of gastronomic exhibitions will continue throughout the day on this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, receiving in the main kitchen of hall 5 the secrets and tricks of renowned local chefs.
The highlight of this edition of the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta will be tomorrow, Saturday at 16:00 hours, the participation of the renowned Michelin star chef from the restaurant El Bohío and judge of MasterChef Pepe Rodríguez, who will perform an exhibition that will unite tradition and modernity with the local product as the main protagonist.
Primary Sector Activities
Hall 7 is dedicated to the activities of the primary sector in this eleventh edition of the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta, and attendees can register directly at the fair. In the Sabor y Saber 1 and Sabor y Saber 2 classrooms, visitors can delve into the island’s primary sector products, such as cheeses, ciders, fruits, vegetables, honey, or oils, through technical tastings and tastings.
To learn the secrets of exceptional meat, visitors have at their disposal the space Insular Slaughterhouses, Meats of Gran Can
aria, where they are invited to taste different island meats through various preparations. All the flavors of Gran Canaria are guaranteed to comply with sanitary, veterinary, animal welfare, and waste recycling regulations.
Also, in this same space, the Wine Classroom of Gran Canaria has been set up, with tastings of local wine and activities related to wine that allows the feeling of the Gran Canaria vineyard in the mouth. The programming of the activities of the Primary Sector is completed with the informative classroom Mucho más que pesca.
Children’s Workshops
After celebrating this Friday, the first fruit art workshop led by SPAR Gran Canaria, Loreto Riera, winner of MasterChef Junior 10, will be the invited cook at the Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta. Loreto, accompanied by Alejandro de la Nuez, will guide children during the preparation of recipes, which are composed of different products from the island.

The Feria Gran Canaria Me Gusta will be open from 9:30 to 19:30 on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, and from 9:30 to 16:00 on Sunday, April 21.
