- The fairgrounds face a second half of the year with an ambitious program for all citizens.
- The institution continues to strengthen its role as a driver of the local economy and a source of opportunities for various productive sectors.
Infecar, Gran Canaria Trade Fair, closes the first half of the year with 123,039 attendees across 70 events, reflecting its increasingly important role as a driver of the island’s economy and society.
During the first six months of 2025, the institution organized seven fairs and proprietary events, which featured participation from 448 exhibitors. These in-house events attracted 88,039 visitors, while the external activity hosted at the Congress Palace saw 63 events attended by 35,000 people.
This semester’s results “highlight Infecar’s effort and commitment to offer a diverse, up-to-date program aligned with the island’s interests. Not only does it boost the local economy and create opportunities for our productive sectors, but it also helps build community,” said Minerva Alonso, the Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. “Infecar is proving to be a lively, useful, and approachable space,” she added.
As for proprietary events, Infecar kicked off the year with the 30th Gran Canaria Craft Fair, a traditional gathering held in Plaza de San Telmo, where a hundred professionals showcased their trades and sold their handmade products.
Craftsmanship returned in March with the 14th Spring South Gran Canaria Craft Fair, held near the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which brought together over 70 artisans from 15 municipalities.
Meanwhile, the 2nd Ecoislas International Forum, held at the end of January, attracted hundreds of professionals to discuss the need for a greener, more self-sufficient, and sustainable socio-economic model.
DigiON Canarias, the Canary Islands Business Digitalization Fair held in April, also brought together hundreds of professionals eager to exchange experiences about digital transformation and learn from keynote speakers on the integration of artificial intelligence into businesses.
One of the most anticipated events of the year was the 12th Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, which attracted more than 15,000 attendees and 110 companies. Once again, the event proved to be the perfect venue to explore local gastronomy in its broadest sense and experiences tied to the primary sector.
Canarias Comunica, the Communication Forum, focused this year’s discussions on podcast creation as a key part of modern communication strategies.
To close the semester, Infecar organized two of the most popular and attractive fairs of its annual program. On one hand, the International Sea Fair (Fimar) once again drew in professionals and enthusiasts from the nautical and marine-maritime sectors around the common goal of boosting the blue economy. On the other hand, Fisaldo, the Opportunity Fair, celebrated its 25th anniversary with great success: nearly 23,000 people visited the fairgrounds in search of unique deals at the best market prices.
Regarding external events held at the venue, Infecar hosted a variety of gatherings. In February, the Consul 2025 Conference: Gran Canaria took place; followed by the Meeting between Vocational Training Students and ICTs – Conecta TIC; and talks such as ‘Expert Minds’ by Borja Vilaseca and ‘Loving Without Losing Sense’ by Leyla Portillo.
March began with the 2nd Ecoisla Gran Canaria 2030 Symposium, followed by a talk on children’s sleep by pediatrician Carlos González, and the show ‘Modas Pasajeras’ by Saúl Romero, which was followed in April by Abián Díaz’s ‘Pathetic Show’.
May kicked off with the humor of ‘Misery Class by Goyo Jiménez’ and continued with musical experiences such as ‘La Pantera’ and ‘Viva Gran Canaria’. The month wrapped up with the comedy show ‘Made in Canarias. Ready to Laugh?’ adding a local touch for Canary Islands Day.
The semester concluded with the Traditional Artisan Recognition Ceremony, the 18th Pink Runway in support of the Canary Islands Association for Breast and Gynecological Cancer, and the ‘Spirited Away’ concert.
An equally intense second half
The second half of the year promises to be just as intense, with seven additional proprietary fairs and events on the calendar. Among those organized directly by Infecar are the 18th Summer South Gran Canaria Craft Fair, returning to the Maspalomas Lighthouse area from August 8 to 17; Expobienestar, taking place on September 26 and 27; and Animundo, the Pet Fair, to be held at Infecar from October 10 to 12.
In November, ExpoAgro Canarias returns to the fairgrounds, providing a meeting point for professionals in the primary sector to discover and share the latest technological solutions transforming agriculture (November 26–27).
Immediately afterward, a new edition of the Gran Canaria Craft Fair will move to the island’s south for the first time to celebrate its autumn edition (November 29–December 2).
Planeta Gran Canaria, the favorite event for children across the island and the closing event of Infecar’s annual program, also has its dates set: it will take place from December 26 to January 4, celebrating its 25th anniversary.
In addition to these events, the Congress Palace will host 60 more external events, with an expected attendance of 80,000 visitors. These include highlights such as the AVIS Fair (July 4–6), Jorge Ávila’s Show (July 13), and Gran Canaria Summer-Con, one of the most anticipated technology and entertainment events, returning for its second edition to welcome thousands of fans of video games and Asian culture (September 5–7).
In October, the Gran Canaria SUM Festival (October 3–4) and Locos x el Rock & Roll (October 25) will delight rock music lovers.
The drive behind Infecar, Gran Canaria Trade Fair, to organize an attractive calendar of activities for the public reinforces the Cabildo of Gran Canaria’s commitment to promoting a modern, efficient fairground in service of the island’s development.
