Infecar calls for tenders for the refurbishment of the Tamadaba and Roque Bentayga halls at the GC Conference Centre

  • The refurbishment will equip the halls with new audiovisual, electrical, soundproofing, lighting, sound and air-conditioning installations.
  • Companies interested in bidding for this tender have until 22 February 2022.

The Canary Islands Trade Fair Institution (Infecar) yesterday published the tender for the refurbishment of the Tamadaba and Roque Bentayga halls of the Gran Canaria Conference Centre, with a budget of 779,989 euros. In this way, the commitment to the integral transformation of the fairgrounds continues.

The increase in demand for services and spaces in the field of trade fairs, congresses, business meetings and exhibitions in recent years has made it essential to expand and remodel the site, thus increasing its capacity for growth and competitiveness in the trade fair and congress sector.

Thus, the aim of the refurbishment of the Tamadaba and Roque Bentayga halls of the Gran Canaria Convention Centre is to improve the accessibility, visibility and functional requirements of the halls, which date from before 1990, with facilities that are not adapted to the current needs demanded by the market.

Therefore, this project will provide the halls with new audiovisual, electrical, soundproofing, lighting, sound and air-conditioning installations. All this under an interior design project that also aims to comply with the construction and execution compatibility criteria of the Breeam sustainability certification.

In March 2021, the Bandama Hall of the Gran Canaria Conference Centre was completely transformed, turning it into a multifunctional space with great versatility for hosting events of all kinds. In this sense, since its remodelling, the Bandama room has been the chosen space for holding presentations, meetings, work tables, press conferences, etc., thus increasing its usefulness for the island’s business fabric.

Therefore, in order to successfully carry out the project, the entrances to the rooms from the Maspalomas hall will be visually unified, taking into account the design already planned for the entrances to the Bandama hall. Likewise, the control room in the Tamadaba hall will be enlarged and a new control booth will be added in the Roque Bentayga hall.

In terms of installations, the fire detection and extinguishing system will be improved with an early detection system connected to a new conventional fire station.
With regard to the interior design of these rooms, they have been planned as a multifunctional space adapted to any type of assembly or use where different spaces can be clearly distinguished: entrance, spectator area and speakers.

The entrance corresponds to the characteristic colour that gives its name to each of the halls, with the Roque Bentayga entrance being reddish orange, as a simile of the sun’s projection on this Gran Canarian enclave; while green will be the predominant colour in the Tamadaba hall, as a consequence of the vegetation of the Natural Park.

The space between the two halls, where the public is located, is conceived as the green lung that gives life to the venue.

In this way, the renovation of the Tamadaba and Roque Bentayga halls, to which the Felo Monzón hall will be added in the future, will continue with the change of image and adaptation to the new reality of the Infecar Conference Centre.

Companies interested in bidding for this tender have until 22 February 2022 to submit their proposals, which must be registered through the Public Sector Contracting Platform:
