Fimar returns to Sanapú dock from June 6 to 8

  • The International Sea Fair 2025 presents its new poster, in an edition dedicated to the Sustainability of the Canary Islands’ coastline, and opens registration for exhibitors this Friday, March 28

Fimar 2025 gets underway. The International Sea Fair 2025 is already preparing a new edition, which will take place from June 6 to 8, in an event dedicated to the Sustainability of the Canary Islands’ coastline. The Sanapú dock, in the Port of Las Palmas, will host this reference event in the Canary Islands for the nautical and marine-maritime sector. This Friday, March 28, registration has opened for institutions, entities and companies that wish to participate as exhibitors in what has also become a great citizen gathering around the sea and all the activity it generates in the Islands.

Fimar 2025 is an event promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Puertos de Las Palmas. It is organized by the City of Sea department of the Gran Canaria capital and Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria.

The International Sea Fair will repeat the location it occupied in 2024 this year, bringing together more than 14,000 attendees and about fifty companies from the sector. And it does so to celebrate what will be its 14th edition, under the slogan For the sustainability of the Canary Islands’ coastline, to raise awareness among citizens and the public and private framework that focuses its activity on the sea, about the compatibility of economic and social promotion actions on beaches and the coastline with environmental conservation and biodiversity care.

Continuing with an already consolidated format, Fimar 2025 will offer visitors, with free admission, a wide range of public entities (coastal municipalities are also invited) and private firms (dedicated to nautical activities, sea sports, fashion, along with the entire marine-maritime sector) that focus their reason for being around the Atlantic, in addition to a broad panel of experts and specialists from the academic environment who, with their presentations in spaces enabled for this purpose, define the educational character of the event.

Complementary to the exhibition area, the leitmotif of the fair, there will be no shortage in Sanapú of an area especially reserved for nautical activities (the water surface is the center of attention for visitors every year), an area for children’s activities and a gastronomic area. The program will also include the usual visits on a tourist guama to the interior of the port premises, as well as boat trips around the dock bay.

The objectives of Fimar: for the blue economy

It should be emphasized that the International Sea Fair continues faithful to its founding purposes, pursuing its essential objectives in this new delivery of the event. That is, to offer professionals in the sector a specialized event where supply and demand can be concentrated, promoted, and valuable business relationships established. As a professional meeting point, this condition has confirmed Fimar as the great center of attention for the economic environment around the blue economy in the Canary Islands.

Another of the fair’s aims is to boost this segment of economic activity in the Islands, which is of strategic relevance. The fair has been established since its origins as an essential forum to promote the attractions of the nautical and marine-maritime sector in the region.

Although at the same time Fimar, with an educational spirit, seeks awareness about the sustainability of the marine environment, which is vital for the future of the Archipelago. Hence, it’s a recurring effort, edition after edition, when it comes to presenting a large number of local experts and academics who, with the endorsement of science, share their knowledge openly before the public that attends the fair. On the other hand, a space where the island’s maritime traditions and the culture of the sea in the Canary Islands are promoted.

Guest city: Ericeira

It is now a tradition that the International Sea Fair incorporates the representation of a guest city with a strong link to the sea each year. In this case, it will be Ericeira, a coastal town 35 kilometers from Lisbon.

This Portuguese town spans approximately five kilometers of coastline and is established as a World Surfing Reserve by the non-governmental organization Save the Waves Coalition.

Here lies one of its links with the headquarters of Fimar, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as Ericeira itself is integrated into the World Surf Cities Network, the global network of surf cities established to boost local economic activity (industry, tourism, and employment) through this sport discipline with a cooperative spirit.
