- The forum will take place on November 26 and 27 with free admission and limited capacity
- As part of ExpoAgro, the Innovation Forum on Urban Tree Management will also be held to address the major challenges of using trees in cities
ExpoAgro, Innovation Meetings, will return to Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, on November 26 and 27 as a meeting point for producers, suppliers, and experts from the primary sector in the Canary Islands.
This event provides an ideal setting to bring the latest trends and solutions that will shape the future of agriculture in the islands closer to the primary sector. Through specialized presentations and real case studies held in the afternoons of both days, government representatives, the scientific community, and field professionals will share knowledge to advance toward a more sustainable, competitive, and globally prepared agricultural model, addressing the main challenges and opportunities of the agriculture of the future.
Among many other topics, participants will jointly seek solutions for more efficient water use, discuss new crop protection strategies, and explore the development of agrivoltaics as a sustainable production model. Specifically, this fourth edition of ExpoAgro will focus on irrigation efficiency in strategic crops, the incorporation of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in agriculture, and the advancement of agrivoltaics as a model that combines agricultural and energy production.
The program on the 26th will focus on irrigation efficiency, presenting various methods for optimization, including digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The following day, attendees will delve into crop protection techniques and agrivoltaics—that is, the intersection between agriculture and photovoltaic energy.
ExpoAgro is thus conceived as the ideal forum to learn from other professionals and deepen knowledge in the areas that are transforming the primary sector in the islands, always with innovation as the guiding thread and a shared goal: to move toward an efficient and sustainable primary sector model, where food sovereignty is one of its pillars and which improves the quality of life for both farmers and livestock breeders, as well as for those whose livelihoods depend on the land.
In parallel, during the mornings of November 26 and 27, the Innovation Forum on Urban Tree Management will also take place. These sessions will address major challenges in managing trees within cities, their integration into new urban models, and the balance between nature and urban space—topics that help cities evolve and improve urban quality of life.
The forum will include a technical visit to Maspalomas to provide a hands-on experience of how nature-based solutions have been integrated into an urban environment to regenerate a degraded public space. In addition, real examples of urban regeneration in Gran Canaria will be presented, such as the comprehensive intervention at the palm square of the Viera y Clavijo Canarian Botanical Garden, and how sustainability will be a key part of the renovation of Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.
Attendance at both the morning and afternoon sessions is free, although capacity is limited, and the professional community is already showing great interest in the presentations. Information, the full program, and seat reservations are now available on the official ExpoAgro Canarias website: www.expoagrocanarias.es.
ExpoAgro Canarias is an event promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. It is held in collaboration with the Department of Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty and Water Security of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, with Cajasiete as the official partner.
