Everything is ready at Infecar to host the latest developments in the electric mobility industry. The Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, Movelec, returns on 7, 8 and 9 October to the capital’s exhibition centre, in a sixth edition that extends its duration to three days, thus responding to the usual visitors and exhibitors at this event.

The technical coordinator for Economic Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Raúl García Brink, pointed out during the presentation that “today we are presenting the sixth edition of this show, which has taken a qualitative leap forward between the first edition and this one. At that time we were not very sure about the future of this event, but today’s presentation shows us that we were not mistaken in this commitment from the Cabildo”.

So, for yet another year, “Movelec aims to raise awareness of the environmental advantages and savings involved in the use of electric vehicles; to publicise the aid available for the purchase of electric vehicles and at the same time encourage their use; to highlight the importance of having CO2-free towns and cities and improving noise levels, developing the concept of eco-island; and to boost an emerging sector that will transform the concept of mobility in the 21st century”, she added.

For her part, Infecar’s general manager, Natalia Santana, pointed out that “this edition of Movelec will be the most comprehensive to date as it will include cars, motorbikes, bicycles and electric scooters among the participating sectors, as well as a network of workshops and services and energy generating companies; but we will also have the first exhibition of 100% electric second-hand vehicles for sale”.

Movelec will open its doors on Friday 7 October from 16.00 to 20.00 hours; on Saturday 8 October from 10.00 to 20.00 hours and on Sunday 9 October from 10.00 to 15.00 hours. Natalia Santana stressed that “this time the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show will have a total of 39 exhibitors, the largest number to date, with around 50 models on display”. “Test drives, an electric scooter circuit, a Citröen unlicensed electric vehicle driving circuit and a wide and varied programme of talks, presentations and round tables will complement this event, which we hope will exceed the attendance figures from before the pandemic,” he concluded.

Programme

With all this in mind, the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, Movelec, will kick off its informative programme for this sixth edition on Friday 7 October with an inaugural round table discussion on ‘Urban mobility of the future: where are we going? Participants will include Reyes Montiel, journalist, public policy advisor and former Head of the Environment and Sustainability Cabinet of Madrid City Council; Heriberto Dávila, environmental technician and former Director General of Mobility of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Manuel Sánchez, President of Faconauto Canarias; and Mikel Agirregabiria, President of AUVE España; with Álvaro Sauras, Technical Editor-in-Chief of ‘Autofácil’, as moderator.

At 18.30 hours, Irene González and Elizabeth Hernández, PR Manager of Audi and Comercial Horizont Bus, respectively, will present the ‘Audi Q4 e-Tron, the first 100% electric VTC vehicle in the Canary Islands’. The first day will be brought to a close at 19.00 by technicians from the Green Offices of the Canary Islands, with a presentation on the ‘MOVES III Programme: Aid for the purchase of electric vehicles and installation of charging infrastructures’.

Saturday morning in the presentation area will begin at 10.30 am with David Formoso, Operations Director of Lovesharing, who will talk about ‘Shared mobility in Gran Canaria’. After him, at 10.45 a.m., the PR Manager of the Volkswagen ID range, Javier Martel, will discuss ‘Does an electric car make sense for you?

From 11.00 a.m. onwards, the technical editor-in-chief of ‘Autofácil’ and ‘Evo-Magazine’ Spain, Álvaro Sauras, will present ’10 things about electric cars that were not what we thought they were’. Then, at 12.00, Luis Arencibia and Manuel Escalante, from Škoda Canarias, will talk about ‘The electric revolution and its advantages for taxis’.

From 12.30 p.m., Eduardo Ramírez, head of Exterior Design for Hyundai Motor Europe, will give a talk on ‘IONIQ: New design perspective for the electric vehicle’. The morning will end with Félix Miguel, an engineer from the Technical Assistance Department of Toyota Canarias, who will talk about ‘Technologies for sustainable mobility’.
The afternoon session will begin at 16.00 with ‘Charging points and know your electricity bill’, by Juan José Ovalles, manager of Ovalles Asesores. Then, at 4.15 p.m., Arturo Lang-Lenton, founding partner of Arlangton and icanCharge!, will present ‘How much does it cost to install a charging point?
From 4.30 p.m., the Gran Canaria Island Energy Council will delve into ‘Electric mobility in Gran Canaria’, followed at 5 p.m. by Alejandro Rojano, head of R&D at EAVE, who will talk about ‘Designing a network of charging points in the Canary Islands: a need and a business model’.

Albano Castillo and Yasmina Monzón, from the AMI team, will present ‘AMI: it’s time to make mobility accessible to all’ at 17.45 hours. The president of AUVE Spain, Mikel Agirregabiria, will close Saturday’s presentations with ‘The worst and the best of electric vehicles: 11 secrets to hate and love your electric vehicle’.

However, the finishing touch to Saturday’s event will be the AUVE Las Palmas awards ceremony, starting at 19.00 hours. For the first time, the Association of Electric Vehicle Users of Las Palmas will give several awards to public and private institutions, professionals or anonymous people and the media, rewarding their work to support and promote electric vehicles in the province of Las Palmas.

On Sunday, the last day of the Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, Agustín Déniz and Miguel Crispín, sales manager and manager of Nissan, will present the ‘Nissan Offensive’ from 11.00 am. At 11.15 a.m., Ernesto Guajardo de la Rosa, associate managing director of Patinetaló, will present ‘The electric scooter: from toy to vehicle’.

The mechanics of the future: the electric car’ will be discussed from 11.30 a.m. by Jorge González, from 80% electric’, followed at 12.30 p.m. by Germán Hiller, AUVE Las Palmas delegate, to present ‘AUVE… shared knowledge for electric vehicle users’.

Roberto Amorín, CEO of Canary Charger and co-founder of the solocochelectrico.es portal, will present ‘Solocochelectrico.es, the first exclusive portal for buying/selling 100% electric cars’ at 13.00. Finally, Samuel Sánchez, an electric vehicle technician, will talk about the ‘New MG4, excellence in driving’.
