Canarias Comunica addresses the potential of the podcast to connect and offers a masterclass in IA.

  • At the forum, a live episode of the Webpositer podcast was recorded, in which its CEO, Luis Villanueva, interviewed AI expert Laia Grassi, “AI is two brains working together”
  • The workshop—an educational program structured in three parts—delved into how artificial intelligence has reshaped the paradigm in 2025

Podcasts are redefining communication, but also the way in which we capture audience attention and build loyalty within our communities. This was witnessed live by the 150 professionals who participated in the 13th edition of Canarias Comunica, the Canary Islands Communication Forum, a yearly gathering of the latest communication trends and strategies, whose 2025 program unfolded under the theme “Podcast & Community Power.”

Following an introduction by Jotaypunto, CEO and Founder of Entrepreneurs Fight Club and Todo va a salir bien—who guided the day—the forum kicked off with the live recording of a podcast hosted by Luis Villanueva, CEO of the Webpositer group. Webpositer has become a benchmark in podcasting thanks to its weekly show on entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and business strategies through expert interviews.

This time the guest was Laia Grassi, Creative Director specializing in generative AI and advertising. Together, they held a candid, hour-long conversation revealing not only the potential of artificial intelligence—which Grassi describes as “designed to solve problems”—but also the power of the podcast as a narrative tool that makes complex topics accessible and engaging. As Villanueva pointed out, this unscripted, natural flow is “one of the hallmarks of the Webpositer podcast,” and he likened the experience to “a live masterclass.”

“Artificial intelligence has arrived to challenge us; now everyone has access to the same tools,” Grassi asserted, “but how we manage them—and the creativity with which we use them—is what makes the difference.” She reminded attendees that the more informed and precise our prompts, the better the AI’s output. “AIs amplify and extend our capabilities,” she added, highlighting custom GPTs as “personalized agents we can train to perform specific tasks autonomously. We are creating a collective artificial intelligence—something unprecedented in history—and it is fueling a new race among nations.”

The day continued with a panel discussion titled “The Role of the Podcast as a Business Catalyst and Part of a Communication Strategy,” moderated by strategic consultant and speaker Jotaypunto. The session offered key insights into how podcasts have become a valuable channel for brands to connect with and retain their audiences. Villanueva explained how the medium can be monetized—“podcasts allow you to generate visibility and audience, and you can also earn revenue, much like press releases or magazine covers”—yet he emphasized that its greatest reward lies in its human side: “it lets you sit and talk with people you wouldn’t normally meet, creating experiences that can’t be measured simply by play counts or revenue.”

Alongside the special Webpositer episode, Canarias Comunica this year featured a dedicated SEO workshop. David Navarro, SEO Manager at Webpositer and workshop leader, explained how AI is transforming search engines—“it has changed the paradigm in 2025”—and reviewed cutting-edge trends, strategies, and experiments like AI Overviews, which “are AI-generated summaries that Google now provides based on multiple sources.” He then led a hands-on case study demonstrating practical AI applications for businesses and how to integrate them into daily operations.

For Navarro, AI’s greatest contribution to communication lies in “productivity and efficiency—the ability to streamline processes.” However, he insists on the importance of “verifying and humanizing: you must cross-check sources and review everything AI provides, then add that personal touch, that care, that passion no artificial intelligence can replicate.” “That human element makes all the difference,” he concluded.

Canarias Comunica, the Canary Islands Communication Forum, is promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, with Cajasiete as official collaborator.
