Canagua y Energía returns on October 21 and 22 to celebrate its 15th edition at the Agüimes Fairgrounds. The biennial event will combine an exhibition area with technical sessions, presentations of innovative solutions, and spaces for business meetings to facilitate knowledge exchange and generate collaboration opportunities.
More than 60 companies and institutions will participate in this edition as exhibitors to showcase products and services related to water and energy management. The exhibition offerings will cover areas such as solar and wind energy, self-consumption, energy storage, and efficiency. In the water sector, there will be solutions for equipment, irrigation, piping, transport, and storage, as well as engineering, operation, and maintenance services. The fair will also incorporate proposals related to the circular economy, efficient buildings, city monitoring, and sustainable mobility.
During the presentation of the fair, the Island Councilor for the Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty, and Water Security, Miguel Hidalgo, highlighted the importance of this event, which allows “rescuing different types of proposals, both in the water and energy fields.” “The energy-water union is fundamental; it is the future of these energies,” and for this reason, the Island Energy Council and the Island Water Council “have come together to seek new proposals, solutions that truly benefit the sector,” stated Hidalgo. He advocated for continuing to support this type of fair to provide solutions to the various problems arising on the island of Gran Canaria.
For his part, the Island Councilor for Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge, Raúl García Brink, assured that Canagua y Energía is “an opportunity to continue discovering innovative technologies in the fields of water and energy, with high-level technical sessions, highly qualified participants, and responses to the needs of Canarian companies.”
In addition to the exhibition area, Canagua y Energía will hold technical sessions addressing topics such as energy storage and regulation in island systems, agrivoltaics, energy communities, and the potential of floating photovoltaics, among many others related to energy. Regarding water, the presentations and round tables will focus on cybersecurity, the protection of hydraulic infrastructures, and water reuse in Spain and the islands.
In parallel, at the Speaker’s Corner, around twenty registered companies and entities will present their solutions through brief 15-minute interventions, an agile and dynamic format that brings the latest industry developments to the fair’s professional audience.
Commercial activity will also feature a B2B meeting area to establish contacts between exhibiting companies and professional visitors. Through a digital platform accessible via the website canagua.es, registered attendees can arrange their meetings in advance, facilitating the search for suppliers and potential partners for new projects.
This year, the fair will also host the 2026 Canagua y Energía Awards ceremony in the categories of Sustainability and Energy, and Sustainability and Water. Promoted by the Island Energy Council and the Island Water Council, respectively, they will highlight initiatives and careers that contribute to innovation, conservation, and the efficient use of resources.
In the Sustainability and Water category, the awards will recognize the CIFP Felo Monzón Grau-Bassas for social and collective initiative, due to its contribution to training professionals to face the island’s water challenges; Transvirgin, S.L., for business initiative, for its innovative management of maritime and industrial wastewater from the Port of Las Palmas; and Baltasar Peñate Suárez, for his professional career in desalination, energy efficiency, and innovation applied to the water cycle. The awards for academic work will go to Amanda Hernández Montesdeoca and Gara del Señor Carreño Hernández.
In Sustainability and Energy, Salto a la Transición Ecológica will be recognized for social and collective initiative, promoting a participatory energy transition adapted to the Canary Islands; FSM Energías, for business initiative, for its renewable projects linked to agriculture, water, and the circular economy; and Rafael Martell Sánchez, for his pioneering career in integrating wind energy, desalination, water storage, and agricultural activity. Yraya Duque Tovar and Javier Alfredo Esteban Segura will receive the awards for academic work.
Additionally, special mentions will be awarded to Ainara Irigoyen Zarragoicoechea, for her technical contribution and capacity for institutional collaboration in projects connecting water and energy, and to José Rafael “Felo” Sánchez Ramírez, for his role in developing integrated management of both resources in Gran Canaria.
Both the conference program and the Speaker’s Corner presentations are available on the website canagua.es, where free tickets to attend the event can also be obtained.
Canagua y Energía is an event promoted by the Gran Canaria Island Council (Cabildo), through the Island Energy Council and the Island Water Council, and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. It also features Cajasiete as an official collaborator and the collaboration of the Agüimes City Council. Canaragua and Green Efficient support the fair this year as platinum sponsors of the blocks dedicated to water and energy, respectively; Aqualia and LONGi Solar as gold sponsors of the Speaker’s Corner and B2B area, and Redstack as a silver sponsor.
