Animundo is preparing its sixth edition, with collaboration from city councils on the island

  • The island councillor, Minerva Alonso, has conveyed to the municipalities the intention to give them a more significant role in organising the fair

The sixth edition of Animundo, the Pet Fair, which will take place on November 18th and 19th at Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fair, is already gearing up. On Wednesday, September 27th, a meeting was held between the main stakeholders from each of the municipalities on the island.

The councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts, Minerva Alonso; the island director of the Environment, Manuel Amador; the general director of Infecar, Natalia Santana; and representatives from the Official College of Veterinarians of Las Palmas and Gesplan, have presented the attendees with the details of this new edition of Animundo, which is still finalising its definitive program.

“We intend to give greater prominence to municipal animal protection programs, with a space to raise awareness among the public about animal welfare,” said Minerva Alonso, who also encouraged the municipalities to “participate in this sixth edition.”

After learning about the outline of the program proposed for the new edition of Animundo, municipal representatives welcomed the opportunity to have a more significant presence at the fair. They have also taken this opportunity to discuss common issues the municipalities face, such as the situation of municipal animal shelters in search of adopting families or the legal case that now arises with implementing the new Animal Welfare Law.
