- Within the framework of the fair, a Professional Day will be held, featuring lectures and roundtables designed for professionals and students in the field of animal health and welfare.
- More than one thousand 3rd and 4th grade primary school students will also enjoy their own specific program, Animundo Educa, where they will learn how to care for animals in a fun and engaging way
Animundo returns to Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, on October 11 and 12 to promote respect for and the welfare of animals. The eighth edition of this event will once again bring together industry professionals, families, and animal lovers, consolidating itself as a meeting point that combines training, awareness, and entertainment around companion animals.
This year’s program includes talks, workshops, exhibitions, and adoption parades that encourage responsible adoption and respectful coexistence. Among the highlights will be the participation of actor and comedian Dani Rovira, who will host one of the adoption parades and join a discussion on animal welfare alongside Canary Islands actress and presenter Eloísa González.
The Councillor for Environment, Climate, Energy and Knowledge of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Raúl García Brink, emphasised that the animals participating in the adoption parades come from the Island Animal Shelter, praising its “magnificent work, fundamental in the rescue, care, socialisation, and search for adoptive families for animals irresponsibly abandoned.”
One of the main novelties of this edition will be Animundo Educa: Friends with Paws and Hearts, scheduled for October 10, with the aim of “educating and raising awareness about the care and responsible ownership of companion animals” among more than 1,000 students from 25 primary schools, as explained by the Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts, Minerva Alonso. The students will learn what it takes to have animals at home and become ambassadors of animal welfare.
Third Professional Day
For the third consecutive year, Animundo will host a new edition of the Professional Day, aimed at professionals and students of animal health and welfare. On Friday, October 10, this free program will feature lectures and round tables addressing current issues in the field of animal care.
The day will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the lecture “Caring for the Bond: The New Paradigm of Veterinary Medicine”, delivered by Elena García, a veterinarian specialised in behavioural medicine. Afterwards, a roundtable on “Multidisciplinary Work in Animal Welfare” will take place, featuring García, veterinary ethologist Rosario Galtier, and Yohanna Benítez, director of Zendog Educación Canina.
The session, designed to share experiences and create networking opportunities, will conclude with a cocktail at 7:45 p.m.
Alongside the program, the event will feature a large commercial area with the participation of 36 companies, associations, and organisations dedicated to the protection and care of animals, showcasing their services and products in the exhibition area.
Tickets are available on the official website www.animundo.es at a general price of €1.50. Admission is free for children under 12, unemployed persons, pensioners, and people with disabilities. Dogs over three months old are also welcome, provided they meet the access requirements.
Animundo, the Companion Animal Fair, is promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, organised by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, and sponsored by Kiwoko Mundo Animal, Koala Mascotas, and El Corte Inglés. The event also features collaborations with CajaSiete, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Island Animal Shelter, the Official College of Veterinarians of Las Palmas, Club Granky, Terapican+, and the Agility Sports Club Lomo Salas.
