  • his edition of the acclaimed children’s workshops will feature the participation of the young chef Pablo Nin Hernández.
  • Registration to take part in these cookery workshops is now open on the website www.feriagrancanariamegusta.es

The taste for good gastronomy and the use of excellent raw materials is not incompatible with age. The protagonists of the children’s workshops at the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair are well aware of this and, once again, they will be taking part in the reunion with the island’s most flavoursome fair, which will be held from 29 April to 1 May.

On this occasion, Pablo Nin Hernández, participant in the eighth edition of Masterchef Junior, will be the junior chef invited to the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair. Pablo, accompanied by Alejandro de la Nuez, executive chef of the Santa Mónica Suites, will guide the children during the preparation of the recipes, made up of different products from the island.

The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair aims with this activity, which is organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, to show the importance of supporting the local produce of the island and, through a didactic, dynamic and interactive cooking workshop, to teach and train the senses of the little ones through the visual, olfactory and gustatory recognition of different typical products of the island, as well as their identification with the geographical area that produces them.

On this occasion, the young apprentices will have to be accompanied by an adult and together they will make a cold cooking recipe with ingredients characteristic of different municipalities on the island. They will also enjoy a blind tasting, in this case of liquefied fruits, in which they will have to identify the flavours of each one of them.

There will be a total of four sessions on Saturday 30 April and two on Sunday 1 May. Tickets to take part in this activity, which has a maximum capacity of 20 apprentice cooks in each workshop, with 20 accompanying adults, can already be purchased on the website www.feriagrancanariamegusta.es. In order to enable as many children as possible to take part, registrations will only be valid for a single workshop during the course of the fair.

Educational community

The opening day of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, on Friday 29 April, will also feature children’s activities. In this case, the educational community will be the protagonists of the fruit art workshop, run by SPAR Gran Canaria, the fair’s sponsor, which has been associated with the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair for seven years now.
