• This edition returns to Infecar with 70 exhibitors, a number that beats the record to date, which was set at 63 that had the 2018 edition

The 13th edition of the International Fair Canagua and Energy is already underway. This Wednesday, November 9, the fair has resumed its activity, after four years of hiatus, conditioned by its biennial nature and the health pandemic, with successful participation and a full informative program.

Canagua y Energía, which is promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Consejo Insular de la Energía de Gran Canaria and the Consejo Insular de Aguas de Gran Canaria, and organized by Infecar, will show the latest developments in the water and energy sector until 7 p.m. today; tomorrow, Thursday 10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Minister of Primary Sector and Food Sovereignty, Miguel Hidalgo, the technical coordinator of Economic Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge, Raul Garcia, and the general director of Infecar, Natalia Santana, opened this morning this 13th edition, which before the opening of doors already had more than 1,800 visitors registered. Tickets can be obtained, free of charge, through the web www.canagua.es.

“Canagua and Energy returns with the representation of 70 exhibitors, more than any other edition to date, and complements this exhibition with a technical conference dedicated to the binomial water and energy, with interesting presentations during these three days,” said Miguel Hidalgo.

For his part, Raul Garcia has enhanced the “technological solutions that we will find in this edition of Canagua and Energy” which, moreover, is an attraction for the “general public who can find in this event all the information necessary to qualify for aid currently available for the installation of photovoltaic panels in your home and not only that, but also has a wide range of installation companies exhibiting at this fair”.

Thus, in addition to the commercial exhibition of Canagua and Energy, there is an extensive program of technical seminars, framed in a block of energy and other water, which is complemented by a brief exhibition spaces, the Speakers’ Corner, where exhibitors have a time of 15-20 minutes to present their products and services.

In addition, and as usual in professional fairs, Canagua and Energy has a space in which to develop B2B business meetings between visitors and exhibitors, being able to establish new relationships and professional alliances.

Technical conferences

The central technical sessions of the International Fair Canagua and Energy have been inaugurated with the presentation of the analyst and geopolitical lecturer Pedro Baños.

During his speech, Baños, who was accompanied by Raúl García, technical coordinator of Economic Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and Guillermo Vega, correspondent in the Canary Islands of the newspaper El País, reviewed the existing energy dependence in reality.

“We are living a very delicate moment due to the great dependence we have in Europe from abroad. Some 60% of the energy we consume comes from outside, with more than 45% coming from Russia,” said Baños, who urged the need to take decisions to alleviate this situation.

“Just as we cannot live without water, we must be aware that in order to maintain industrial development we need four things, basically: initiative, technology, natural resources and energy”, he pointed out.

With all this, the program continues on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning with the ‘Energy’ module, to talk about ‘Frontiers in renewable energies: where the sea captivates the sun’; ‘The agrivoltaica: synergy between solar energy and agriculture’; ‘The councils before the energy transition’ or the presentation of the ‘Renewable energy communities: Challenges and opportunities. Preliminary results of the COME RES project’, among others.

As regards the module dedicated to ‘Water’, which will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 10 and the morning of Friday 11, will deal with aspects such as ‘Innovation and technologies for the best use of natural resources: water, agriculture and food’; ‘The commitment to digitization to achieve intelligent water management’; as well as a space dedicated to the ‘Policy frameworks and technical regulations related to water’.
