- The fair has been launched as a commercial showcase designed to encourage new business opportunities and direct contact between professionals and customers.
- A real wedding ceremony will provide the grand finale to the first edition of this event, which brings together professionals offering all kinds of services related to celebrations.
Gran Día, Celebrations Fair, opened its doors today at the Agüimes Exhibition Centre, bringing together nearly 70 companies and professionals specialising in the organisation of weddings, baptisms, first communions, anniversaries, birthdays, retirement celebrations and other events. This first edition has been conceived as a meeting point where visitors can discover proposals, trends and ideas for creating unique and special celebrations.
During the opening ceremony, the President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, described the event as “an innovative initiative that responds to the industry’s demand”. Through this initiative, Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, “is trying to reach new audiences and new sectors, innovating and launching new proposals that generate economic activity and help entrepreneurs on the island to have a platform to showcase their ideas, proposals and initiatives”.
“When we talk about economic diversification, it is true that this is a sector that can also be linked to tourism, but also to the services sector. It encompasses a broad part of social activity and a wide range of activities and, therefore, it is also a genuine proposal for economic diversification,” he added.
Promoted by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, the event brings together a wide range of services linked to the industry throughout the weekend. Photography, make-up, fashion, travel, catering, sound and lighting, music and vehicle hire are among the activities represented in an exhibition area designed to facilitate direct contact between professionals and potential customers.
Gran Día also serves as a commercial showcase for participating companies, helping to increase their visibility, generate new business opportunities and establish synergies. Visitors can discover exhibitors’ proposals first-hand, receive advice and find all the services they need to organise a personalised celebration in one place.
The commercial offering is complemented by a programme of talks, round-table discussions and fashion shows. During Saturday’s programme, topics included financial planning for celebrations, presented by Verónica Ramírez, from Violette Dream Wedding Planner, and venue selection, addressed by David Febles, Head of MICE Sales and Operations at the Lopesan hotel group. Roxana Salinas, from Azul Salado Wedding Planner, also explained the essential aspects of organising an event. A round-table discussion moderated by journalist Jezabel Artiles explored the best ways to tell the story of a “Gran Día” — a great day.
A round-table discussion moderated by content creator Laura Torres will explore travel opportunities associated with this type of celebration, while a fashion show featuring the latest clothing and accessory trends for special occasions will bring Saturday’s programme to a close.
On Sunday, the programme will focus on managing stress during event preparations, addressed by “flow psychologist” Érica Sosa, as well as the latest trends in fashion and aesthetics, which will be discussed in a round table moderated by influencer Ana Bravo de Laguna. In the afternoon, the programme will include a second round table dedicated to the professionals and services responsible for creating “the soul of the party”, moderated by Marta Ibrahim, followed by another fashion show.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of this first edition of Gran Día, Celebrations Fair will take place on Sunday at 12:30 p.m., with a real wedding ceremony organised by the Lopesan hotel group. A large representation of the companies and professionals exhibiting at the fair will take part in the ceremony, transforming the exhibition centre into the setting for a complete celebration and providing the perfect finale to this first edition.
Throughout the weekend, activities will also extend to the outdoor stage in the food and beverage area, with performances by Fijo Discontinuo and Plátano Swing taking place today, while Aseres and DJ Álamo will perform on Sunday.
Gran Día, Celebrations Fair will remain open this Saturday until 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Free tickets are required to attend the event and can be obtained through the fair’s website at www.feriagrandia.es. The website also provides information about participating companies, the programme of talks and the entertainment activities.
The event is promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. Lopesan is the event’s sponsor, with Cajasiete and Agüimes Town Council participating as supporting partners.
