The 1st Congress and Fair of Physical Activity and Sport of the Canary Islands, ExpoDeca 2024, scheduled from November 14 to 17 at Infecar, will become the significant Sports Forum in the Canary Islands, with the active participation of public and private institutions, universities, brands, federations, and clubs, all aimed at promoting the sector’s development across the islands. It will also be presented to the public, who will have free entry, as a significant Sports celebration featuring exhibitions and hands-on activities across the entire exhibition grounds. A special mention goes to Pavilion 5, which will be entirely dedicated to fitness and regular sports practices, catering to intense physical exercise enthusiasts and those interested in maintaining healthy living habits.
ExpoDeca 2024 is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports and organized by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria. Entry to ExpoDeca 2024 will be free, and those interested can reserve their spot through the official event website, expodeca.es.
One of the main goals of ExpoDeca 2024, besides boosting the development of the Sports sector in the Canary Islands as a critical economic driver and social catalyst, is to connect Sports with Health. In addition to institutional, federative, academic, and private participation in the various stands distributed throughout the fair and the promotion of federated sports, ample space will be dedicated to regular sports practices. These activities are incorporated into users’ daily lives as part of a healthy lifestyle, with no competitive orientation. Promoting sports and healthy living is one of the Congress’s primary goals.
Fitness aims to help participants achieve optimal health and well-being through healthy habits and sports practice. The increasing awareness of Sports as a Health factor has led to the proliferation of centres and spaces dedicated to this activity, with significant social demand, including in the Canary Islands. This demand, which has not only been consolidated but is also in continuous growth and evolution, will be addressed at ExpoDeca 2024.
ExpoDeca 2024 will reserve an entire pavilion at Infecar to promote fitness. Specifically, Pavilion 5, where modular and floor stands will be set up for the most important sports and fitness companies in the Canary Islands, with a presence on different islands and medium and small operators with a consolidated presence in this segment.
Attendees will have the chance to see firsthand the quality of these companies’ offerings, their equipment, and the range of activities they provide.
Activity Program
When ExpoDeca 2024 attendees enter Pavilion 5, they will discover a main stage with a full schedule of activities running from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (November 14, 15, and 16), and from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 17.
The agenda, led by expert instructors, includes high-intensity activities such as step, aero boxing, body combat, Zumba, Latin dance, and training sessions geared toward fitness enthusiasts.
However, the Pavilion 5 program is much more varied, including yoga, pilates, and hypopressive sessions aimed at health and wellness. Qualified instructors will also lead these classes.
The fitness program for Pavilion 5 at ExpoDeca 2024 has been designed to meet the needs of various audiences. Seniors will be offered a fitness maintenance session, pregnant women will have a dedicated activity, and children can participate in aerobics.
It’s important to note that entry to ExpoDeca 2024 is free. Invitations can already be downloaded from the official website expodeca.es. Attendees interested in participating in the Pavilion 5 activities can join on a first-come, first-served basis.
The organizers request that attendees come dressed appropriately for the activities and, if needed, bring the necessary accessories (yoga mat, towel).
Gran Canaria Crow Challenge
In addition to the chance to train in Pavilion 5, ExpoDeca 2024 will also offer an excellent opportunity to witness the skills of the top athletes in the Canary Islands. This will happen during the Gran Canaria Crow Challenge on November 16 and 17, a significant event in the world of fitness and cross-training, featuring top specialists from the rest of Spain and other countries.
The public will be able to watch around 200 finalists compete, selected from a preliminary phase already underway by the Challenge organizers.
A Celebration of Sports
The organizers of ExpoDeca 2024 continue to work on providing a comprehensive activity program. Sports federations have become directly involved in organizing exhibitions and hands-on sports activities during the fair, including soccer, handball, volleyball, pickleball, climbing, archery, gymnastics, fencing, and weightlifting. Motorsports and traditional Canary Island sports will round out this wide array of activities, with a playroom for families featuring traditional games.
Institutions, organizations, or companies interested in participating in ExpoDeca 2024 can formalize their involvement through the official event website, expodeca.es.
