- Tickets for the fair, to be held this Saturday, November 26 and Sunday, November 27, are available both on the website www.animundo.es and at the ticket offices at the entrance to the fairgrounds.
- Cirilo, Chira, Coto, Nala, Toreto and Nano, among others, were the first dogs to parade down the adoption catwalk at this year’s edition of the Companion Animal Fair.
Once again, and this is the fifth edition, Animundo, the Companion Animal Fair, opened its doors this Saturday, November 26. Promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Animundo has been positioning itself year after year as the meeting point for all pet lovers and a reference point to promote their awareness, respect and welfare.
The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, accompanied by Raúl García Brink, coordinator of Economic Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge, Manuel Amador, general director of the Department of the Environment, and Natalia Santana, general director of Infecar, inaugurated this edition, which has 16 exhibitors, as well as a varied program of educational talks, workshops and exhibitions, in addition to the now traditional adoption catwalks where more than thirty dogs from the Island Shelter of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria will parade.
“Animundo was born in 2018 with the firm intention of generating a space for awareness, participation and welfare for pets and has been advancing over time in a proposal that has an increasingly greater response by citizens,” said Antonio Morales.
“One of the star proposals of this Companion Animal Fair are the adoption catwalks that, year after year, have 90-100% of the adoptions of the dogs that parade through them”, he pointed out.
Tickets, which cost 1.50 euros, can be purchased on the web www.animundo.es and at the ticket offices at the entrance to the enclosure. In addition, those who wish can go to Infecar accompanied by their dogs for free.
The Companion Animal Fair has been established as the reference space for professionals, families and animal lovers, who can find in a single enclosure all the products and services for the responsible care of pets (in no case the sale of animals).
In this sense, this year the fair will have four groups of exhibitors, on the one hand, services for animals; on the other hand, food stores and products for enjoyment; in addition to animal welfare services and professional training.
Start of the program
As usual, in addition to the exhibition space, Animundo has an extensive program of talks, workshops and exhibitions that can also be followed live, via streaming, on Infecar’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FjHOdCCjdo.
With all this, the Animundo program began with a talk and workshop on ‘Practice sports with your dog. Discover Agility’, given by Manuel Álvarez, from Deportes Caninos Lomo Salas, who gave different tips and exercises to do with our animals in order to improve their physical condition.
After this, María Luisa Fernández, president of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife College of Veterinarians and member of the General Council of the Spanish College of Veterinarians, spoke about the new Animal Protection Law, recently passed, from the veterinarian’s point of view.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the day came with the first of the adoption catwalks at this year’s Animundo, hosted by Baby Solano. The presenter was in charge of revealing the stories of the main protagonists of this event, such as Cirilo, Chira, Coto, Nala, Toreto and Nano, among others, who are looking for a second chance at the Companion Animal Fair.
