The Canary Islands Physical Activity and Sport Fair is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sport, headed by Poli Suárez, and organised by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. Fundación DISA, Provital, Binter, Ybarra and Citroën have also confirmed their support as sponsors of ExpoDeca 2026, which will offer free admission.
Sailing
In an edition of ExpoDeca where the venue’s location gives the sea a particularly prominent role, sailing will have a strong presence. The Canary Islands Sailing Federation is collaborating on a programme that will give visitors access to a simulator featuring the Optimist and Laser classes on Thursday 12, Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Plaza del Espigón. On Sunday 15 November, it will be available at the same location from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Field hockey
The Canary Islands Hockey Federation will organise a programme of field hockey demonstrations at Plaza del Espigón on Thursday 12, Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday 15 November, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The discipline will be represented at the event due to its strong following in the Canary Islands and the track record of its clubs in national competitions.
Mini tennis
From Thursday 12 November, mini tennis will have its own space in the ExpoDeca programme thanks to the Canary Islands Tennis Federation. Activities on the opening day will include precision challenges from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.; demonstrations and matches with spectators from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.; and coaching sessions with experts from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The afternoons will also feature mini tennis tournament matches, culminating on Sunday 15 November with the men’s and women’s finals of the ExpoDeca Tournament, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively. All these activities will take place at El Rincón Park.
In the same area, visitors to this third edition will also be able to enjoy beach tennis close to the sands of Las Canteras. The Canary Islands Tennis Federation has organised a programme for the weekend, with expert-led sessions on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November in the Playa Grande area, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Climbing
The Canary Islands Mountaineering Federation will organise climbing sessions for visitors at the fair. The activity will run throughout all four days of ExpoDeca 2026 and for virtually the entire duration of each day. A dedicated climbing installation will be set up in Plaza de la Música.
Handball
Handball, another sport with deep roots in the Canary Islands, will be represented at this third edition of the Canary Islands Physical Activity and Sport Fair by its regional federation, with various activities taking place during the first two days of the event, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November.
During these two days, an exhibition of sports kits, trophies, medals and awards will be held at Plaza de la Música from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The same venue will also host the Aim, Throw and Score game at 11:00 a.m., as well as technical training sessions from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The afternoons will be dedicated to Benjamín League matches, running until 6:30 p.m.
Fencing
Fencing will also use ExpoDeca as an opportunity to introduce the discipline to the public. Throughout the four days of the fair, both in the morning and afternoon, the programme will include information sessions, trial bouts for visitors and demonstrations by federated fencers, with the support of the relevant federation.
More sports
All these disciplines will join sports such as football, padel, hiking, Nordic walking and bodyboarding, as well as traditional Canary Islands sports, as part of a programme that continues to take shape ahead of next November.
The combination of open practice sessions, demonstrations, competitions, technical training and educational activities will allow visitors to discover a wide range of disciplines and learn first-hand about the opportunities they offer. The programme has been designed to encourage participation in physical activity and expand the ways in which people can enjoy sport throughout the four days of ExpoDeca 2026.
