Fimar strengthens its appeal to blue economy institutions and businesses in the Canary Islands

  • The International Sea Fair (FIMAR) 2025, which will take place from June 6 to 8, has already filled four-fifths of the available exhibitor spaces for its 14th edition.

FIMAR is the key event for the blue economy in the Canary Islands. This is reflected in the preparations for its 14th edition, to be held from June 6 to 8 at the Sanapú dock. The International Sea Fair has already confirmed around forty exhibitor registrations, which represent 80% of the available stands in the port area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

FIMAR 2025 is promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the Ports of Las Palmas. It is organised by the Ciudad de Mar department of the city council and Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria.

The fair’s strong pulling power is again evident, as the event finalises its production just over a month before it opens. FIMAR 2025 is close to matching the nearly 50 exhibitors who participated in 2024, showcasing their work, activities, and services in the sector. That edition attracted more than 14,000 attendees.

That said, exhibitor registrations are still open on the official FIMAR website, via this link: https://feriainternacionaldelmar.com/formulario-expositores.

Every year, FIMAR brings together sectors such as nautical industries and suppliers, leisure and water sports, the marine and maritime sectors, port environments, and even nautical fashion. That’s why it continues to serve as a major forum for the blue economy in the Canary Islands: fostering commercial relations, encouraging dialogue between the public and private sectors, and promoting business opportunities.

Alongside the many companies and firms of the blue economy, public institutions, coastal municipalities, and maritime organizations also participate, all of which are actively involved in the marine environment in the Canary Islands.

The event is also designed as a space for public enjoyment, with a wide range of activities and exhibitions both on the water and within the fairgrounds. FIMAR is free of charge for all visitors, and each edition features guided dock tours, a special area for children, and even a gastronomic zone—all major attractions in a city that has always been closely linked to the sea.

In addition, academic institutions and researchers will once again lead a full schedule of talks and educational sessions, showcasing the region’s wide range of ocean-related activity from a scientific and educational perspective.

Theme and Guest City

The 14th edition of FIMAR will focus on the theme “Sustainability of the Canary Islands’ coastal edge.” The organizing team considers this a key topic, given the sector’s current situation in the islands and the outlook for its future development.

As is tradition, the International Sea Fair will also feature a guest city, and this year, it will be Ericeira—a coastal town located 35 km from Lisbon. The NGO Save the Waves Coalition has declared Ericeira a World Surfing Reserve, and, like Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it is part of the World Surf Cities Network.
