International Ecoislands Forum returns to Infecar to lead the transition towards sustainable and self-sufficient model

  • The event will take place on January 30 and 31 and will feature international, national, and local experts.
  • Exhibitors can now request a booth, and visitors can purchase tickets on the website www.foro-ecoislas.es.

The International Ecoislands Forum will return to Infecar on January 30 and 31 to propose a greener, more profitable, self-sufficient, and environmentally sustainable socio-economic model. With contributions from international, national, and local experts and a focus on island regions, the event aims to catalyze effective climate policies and foster the exchange of innovative ideas to drive sustainability. Designed for professionals and the general public, it also serves as a key platform to explore the potential of green jobs as a solution to unemployment and promote a more environmentally friendly economic model.

This second edition seeks to create synergies between public, private, and scientific institutions, provide access to specialized content, analyze strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate change’s effects and share successful experiences and practices in sustainability.

Companies looking to promote their brand, attract investors, or establish business alliances can now apply to participate as exhibitors by completing the form available on the website www.foro-ecoislas.es.

The forum will feature keynote speeches, including one by Gunter Pauli, the creator of the Blue Economy concept, who will open the program on January 30 with insights into the potential of this model to generate sustainable opportunities. Later that day, Anjila Hjalsted, an expert in absolute sustainability and a TEDx speaker, will explore the keys to achieving full sustainability, providing an inspiring and practical perspective on this global challenge. On January 31, Liz Bonnin, a wildlife biologist and renowned natural history and environmental presenter, will start the day with her talk, The Change Our Planet Needs. Her address will emphasize the urgency of biodiversity conservation and taking action against the climate crisis.

Throughout the two days, parallel sessions will address crucial sustainability and climate change topics. Themes include energy, water, and mobility, exploring strategies for water efficiency, resource reuse, decarbonization of island energy grids, and moving toward net-zero emissions. The sessions will also cover circular and blue economies, focusing on opportunities in desalination brine valorization, waste management challenges, and sustainable tourism. Biodiversity and climate adaptation sessions will highlight the protection of island ecosystems, visitor management in protected areas, and coastal habitat restoration. Additionally, European research projects and innovative solutions, such as carbon markets and green infrastructure, will showcase strategies to mitigate extreme weather events and promote sustainable adaptation.

Among the parallel sessions, two workshops stand out: one addressing the global challenges faced by islands in the blue economy and another titled Navigating the Future, led by Sylvia and Marjolein Boer, the Maritime Sisters, who are experts in driving the transition toward a sustainable maritime future.

B2B Meetings
The forum also offers the opportunity to schedule B2B meetings between exhibitors, visitors, and participating companies. These meetings foster connections, establish new agreements, and create professional alliances. B2B meetings can be scheduled through the platform provided on the event website.

Attendees who purchase tickets will have access to networking activities, the exhibition area, and B2B meetings, making the forum an enriching experience for professionals and individuals interested in creating a greener and more sustainable future.
