On this occasion, the cook Sophie Arellano, finalist on MasterChef Junior 11, will share her passion for cooking with the boys and girls attending the fair.<\/p>\n<p>Sophie Arellano has grown up surrounded by gastronomy. Influenced especially by her father, with whom she learned to enjoy the creative process of cooking, she has continued in recent years to discover new flavours and different techniques from other chefs.<br \/>\nAt the 13th edition of Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, to be held from 8 to 10 May at the Ag\u00fcimes Exhibition Centre, the young cook will lead six 45-minute workshops aimed at children aged between 6 and 12. Accompanied by chef Alejandro de la Nuez, Sophie will offer a range of culinary experiences in which local produce will play a central role.<\/p>\n<p>In each workshop, designed as a dynamic, hands-on and fun activity, participants will prepare different dishes, such as rice paper rolls with vegetables, mango and semi-cured Gran Canaria cheese, dressed with soy sauce, orange and sweet mustard, or a courgette, carrot and avocado tartare with fig dressing and a cured Gran Canaria cheese foam. These are proposals that combine creativity, nutrition and local produce.<br \/>\nThe sessions will also include an interactive island mural through which children will be able to choose the locally sourced ingredients they will use to prepare one of the proposed recipes, helping them discover the quality and value of local produce. The activity will be complemented by a blind fruit tasting, an initiative designed to engage the senses and explore flavours in a fun way.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops will take place on Saturday 9 May in four sessions, at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm, and on Sunday 10 May in two sessions, at 11:00 am and 12:30 pm. Sponsored by the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, the initiative is undoubtedly one of the fair\u2019s most appealing and in-demand children\u2019s activities, combining learning, leisure and values linked to healthy eating and knowledge of local produce.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the activities for children, Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair will offer, from Friday 8 May at 9:30 am, a wide range of gastronomic demonstrations, workshops, tastings and sampling sessions, along with other activities designed to bring local produce closer to the public. Producers, companies and the general public will once again come together, this time at the Ag\u00fcimes Exhibition Centre, to highlight the island\u2019s primary sector, as well as respect for traditions and the quality of Canarian gastronomy.<br \/>\nThose wishing to attend the fair may purchase tickets through the official website, feriagrancanariamegusta.es, or at the box office for \u20ac1.50. The same website also provides access to the booking form for the children\u2019s activities, as well as full information on exhibitors and scheduled events.<\/p>\n<p>The fair is promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.
