More than one hundred artisans from 17 municipalities are taking part in this well-established event, open until 5 January<\/p>\n
From today, San Telmo Park once again becomes a major showcase for island craftsmanship with the inauguration of the 31st Gran Canaria San Telmo Craft Fair, an event firmly established in the island\u2019s cultural and commercial calendar. \u201cIt is one of the most anticipated moments of the year for the artisans of Gran Canaria and for the island\u2019s Christmas season,\u201d said the President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, during his visit to the stands.<\/p>\n
The fair, which brings together more than one hundred artisans from different municipalities until 5 January, highlights the cultural, economic and social value of craftsmanship as a living heritage of the island. This edition features 106 professionals from 17 municipalities, offering the public handcrafted pieces made with quality materials and production processes that combine tradition, creativity and contemporary design. \u201cIt is a great opportunity to market and make profitable the work that artisans carry out throughout the year,\u201d the President stated.<\/p>\n
As explained by the President, the Craft Fair \u201cis becoming increasingly well established,\u201d increasing its economic return for professionals from \u20ac248,000 in 2023 to nearly \u20ac335,000 generated last year. In other words, \u201cthe level of engagement with the public continues to grow, and many people take advantage of this fair to buy their Three Kings\u2019 gifts, keeping in mind our values, our traditions and our craftsmanship,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In this 2025 edition, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has the highest number of participants, with 42 artisans, followed by Telde (13), Ag\u00fcimes (9), Valsequillo, Santa Br\u00edgida and Moya (5 each), Santa Luc\u00eda and Ingenio (4), Santa Mar\u00eda de Gu\u00eda, Firgas and Arucas (3), and Teror, San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana, Mog\u00e1n and Agaete (2). La Vega de San Mateo and G\u00e1ldar are represented by one professional each.<\/p>\n
Visitors to the fair can discover up to 32 different craft trades, including pottery, basketry, ceramics, knife-making, jewellery, blacksmithing, wool spinning and traditional footwear, among others. Eleven of these are traditional trades that preserve techniques passed down from generation to generation.<\/p>\n
The fair is complemented by a programme of live music performances that enhance and enliven the visit. Every day from today, Friday, at 6:00 p.m., different performers will provide musical accompaniment to the event, starting with Generaciones que riman, a project by the Fundaci\u00f3n Ochos\u00edlabas led by Yeray Rodr\u00edguez. On Saturday, 3 January, Zaida Jim\u00e9nez and Juan Sebasti\u00e1n Ram\u00edrez will perform in San Telmo Park, followed on Sunday, 4 January, by Laura Martel and Noelia P\u00e9rez. The musical finale of the fair will be provided by the group Non Trubada, performing at 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
With more than 30 years of history, the Gran Canaria San Telmo Craft Fair reaffirms itself as one of the main platforms for the promotion, marketing and dissemination of the work carried out by professionals linked to the Fund for Ethnography and the Development of Canarian Crafts (FEDAC). The fair offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the island\u2019s culture and traditions, while also allowing visitors to purchase unique handcrafted items during this special time of year.<\/p>\n
The fair will be open until 5 January 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (until 10:00 p.m. on 5 January, Three Kings\u2019 Eve). All information about the participating artisans, as well as the accompanying activity programme, will be available at https:\/\/feriasartesaniagrancanaria.es\/.<\/p>\n
