{"id":13557,"date":"2025-12-01T11:09:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T11:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"\/en\/news\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T11:17:39","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T11:17:39","slug":"fedac-and-infecar-receive-the-excellence-award-for-digital-transparency-in-the-canary-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/en\/news\/fedac-and-infecar-receive-the-excellence-award-for-digital-transparency-in-the-canary-islands","title":{"rendered":"FEDAC and Infecar receive the Excellence Award for Digital Transparency in the Canary Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">The councillor Minerva Alonso values the recognition, which \u201cendorses the Cabildo\u2019s commitment to a modern and transparent administration\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">FEDAC \u2013 the Fund for the Ethnography and Development of Canary Islands Crafts \u2013 and Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria, both bodies under the Department of Economic Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, have been awarded the Excellence in Digital Transparency Prize in the Canary Islands, granted by the Canary Islands Transparency Commissioner on the occasion of its tenth anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The distinctions \u2014 received by around fifty organisations, including associations and public institutions, some recognised with gold, silver, bronze or diplomas depending on the number of years they have met the criteria \u2014 were presented during the 10th Anniversary Gala held at the Parliament of the Canary Islands. The institutional event was presided over by the President of the Chamber, Astrid P\u00e9rez, and brought together regional and national representatives linked to public transparency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These extraordinary awards recognise the work of entities that have achieved outstanding performance in the evaluations of the Canary Islands Transparency Index (ITCanarias).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In this special edition, FEDAC and Infecar were awarded for meeting the established criteria: obtaining top scores in several of the ITCanarias evaluations and maintaining a sustained level of excellence in their obligations of active disclosure and in the quality of the public information available to citizens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Commissioner particularly highlighted the ongoing effort of both entities to improve their portals, update information regularly, and adopt best practices in digital transparency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The councillor for Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, stressed the significance of this recognition: \u201cThese awards are a source of pride for the Department and for the Cabildo. FEDAC and Infecar demonstrate every day a firm commitment to transparency, accountability and the responsible management of public resources. For both entities to receive this Excellence Award is the direct result of the rigorous and consistent work of their technical teams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">She also underlined the impact of these policies on the relationship with citizens: \u201cOpening up information, making it accessible and understandable, and ensuring that anyone can know how we work is essential to strengthening trust in institutions. This recognition encourages us to continue moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The event formed part of the commemorative programme for the 10th Anniversary of the Canary Islands Transparency Commissioner (2015\u20132025), which also included working sessions and meetings of the Conference of Transparency Oversight Bodies (COTAI), with representatives from the State and several autonomous communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Commissioner emphasised that this edition aims to highlight the collective progress of the islands in public transparency, as well as the role of entities such as FEDAC and Infecar, which have maintained a high level of compliance since the evaluation system was launched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In recent years, FEDAC and Infecar have strengthened their public information channels, the clarity of their data, and the ongoing updating of their transparency portals. Both entities have promoted internal processes to improve the quality, accessibility and accuracy of the information they provide to the public. In this regard, the councillor concluded that \u201cthis award supports a modern, responsible management model focused on public service.
