The autumn edition of the Crafts Fair of Gran Canaria will take place from 29 October to 2 November, featuring nearly 80 professionals from 16 municipalities
\nIn addition to three tents exhibiting craft products, the fair will include musical performances that enrich the visitor experience<\/p>\n
The Crafts Fair of Gran Canaria is launching this year its autumn edition at the surroundings of the\u00a0Faro de Maspalomas, in the same venue where spring and summer editions have already been held. This way, the annual calendar for promoting the island\u2019s craft trades is extended and the artisan sector is strengthened, taking advantage of the start of the high tourist season in this area of Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n
This southern location of the island has proved successful in giving visibility to the artisan work carried out by Gran Canaria professionals, by taking advantage of the large number of visitors who come to this key point \u2014 especially at this time of year \u2014 and who are looking to buy products with Canary Island identity and roots.<\/p>\n
Thus, the Crafts Fair of Gran Canaria Autumn South will take place from 29 October to 2 November, with the participation of 76 professionals from 17 municipalities, who once again will have the opportunity to showcase and sell their works whilst demonstrating their crafts. Spread across three large tents, the artisans working in almazuelas (patchwork), cut-work, leather goods and fabric decoration will share space with professionals in ceramics, jewellery, toy-making, blacksmithing and glass-working, among many others.<\/p>\n
A total of 25 different craft trades will be represented at this fair. Among them, six traditional trades stand out: blacksmithing, forging and locksmithing; cigar-making; wood\u2010turning; traditional carpentry; cut-work; and wickerwork from p\u00edr-gano.<\/p>\n
Ceramics is the most represented trade in this edition, with 11 professionals, followed by leather\u2010goods and jewellery, each with nine representatives.<\/p>\n
The artisans participating in this first edition of the Crafts Fair of Gran Canaria Autumn South are mostly from the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which alone accounts for 29 of the 76 professionals. Telde contributes nine; Ag\u00fcimes six; and San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana five. Ingenio and Valsequillo each send four artisans; Firgas and Santa Mar\u00eda de Gu\u00eda, three each. Agaete, Moya, Santa Br\u00edgida, Santa Luc\u00eda de Tirajana and Teror each have two artisans in the fair, while Arucas, G\u00e1ldar and Mog\u00e1n each bring one.<\/p>\n
Notably, six of the artisans involved in this edition are participating for the first time in a FEDAC Crafts Fair, using this opportunity to showcase the work they carry out throughout the year.<\/p>\n
