The 40th Canary Islands Craft Fair opened its doors today in the vicinity of this iconic monument, presenting the handmade products of 128 artisans to both locals and tourists.<\/p>\n<p>This event, held for the first time in southern Gran Canaria, highlights the region&#8217;s cultural identity and roots. Running until December 8, the fair features an exhibition of handcrafted products and includes performances that add vibrancy to the experience.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, inaugurated the fair this morning, joined by the Councilor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts, Minerva Alonso; the Deputy Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Consumer Affairs of the Canary Islands Government, Felipe Afonso El Jaber; and the General Director of Industry, Ana Zurita. The Canary Islands Government promoted the event through the Department of Economy, Industry, Commerce, and Self-Employment and organized for the first time by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n<p>The President highlighted the significance of hosting this event in such a prominent tourist area, which will attract a larger audience and &#8220;showcase the high quality of our artisans&#8217; work to visitors.&#8221; He also expressed appreciation for Fedac&#8217;s commitment to promoting the island&#8217;s traditions and culture. Additionally, he emphasized Infecar\u2019s role in organizing the fair, representing 55 crafts, including ceramics, pottery, stonemasonry, carpentry, leatherworking, embroidery, knife-making, jewellery, and basketry.<\/p>\n<p>Felipe Afonso El Jaber, Deputy Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Consumer Affairs of the Canary Islands Government, underlined the fair&#8217;s goal: \u201cto bring Canarian craftsmanship closer to residents and visiting tourists, strengthen the commercialization of artisanal products, and promote the quality seal @rtesan\u00eda Canaria, which guarantees the authenticity of each piece exhibited.\u201d He agreed with the President on the suitability of holding this regional fair in a setting \u201cwhere tradition, innovation, and tourism can complement each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 40th Regional Craft Fair will remain open until Sunday, December 8, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and entry is free.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Canarian craftsmanship, attendees can enjoy a variety of performances to enhance their visit. Alberto Gonz\u00e1lez inaugurated the program this morning, which continues at 6:00 PM with Zaida Jim\u00e9nez and Juan S. Ram\u00edrez.
