The fair opened its doors this morning with an increase in exhibitor participation, showcasing 89 entities in the exhibition area compared to 70 in the 13th edition held in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The event was inaugurated this morning by Antonio Morales, President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; Ra\u00fal Garc\u00eda, Councilor for Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; Miguel Hidalgo, Councilor for the Primary Sector; Baltasar Pe\u00f1ate, President of the Canagua y Energ\u00eda Organizing Committee; and Natalia Santana, General Director of Infecar. This year\u2019s program will run until Friday, November 29, featuring a comprehensive technical agenda that explores innovations in the water and energy sectors and, for the first time, includes the Canagua y Energ\u00eda Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThe water-energy binomial is inseparable in a territory like ours to face the future of sustainability, combat climate change, and create a diversified economic model,\u201d said Antonio Morales, President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. He emphasized the importance of events like Canagua \u201cto strengthen water security, energy sovereignty, and clean energies, exchange experiences, open up to other continents, internationalize our proposals, learn from other global initiatives, and discover leading international companies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cRenewable energies open an extraordinary path to address the challenge of sustainability, and we are uniquely positioned to achieve it. This is why it is essential for us to lead in offshore wind energy, projects like the Salto de Chira hydraulic initiative, and geothermal energy. Harnessing geothermal energy, which requires no storage and is available 24\/7, would be revolutionary. We have the perfect conditions to make it a reality,\u201d he concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Inaugural Presentation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The opening presentation featured Joan Herrera, former Director of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), founding partner of SAMS\u00d8, and a prominent figure in promoting energy transition. Under the title <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cEnergy as a Driver of Change: A Proposal for Economic Transformation Through Energy, From Scarcity to Abundance,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> Herrera drew on the example of the island of Sams\u00f8, the namesake of his consultancy, which generates more renewable energy than it consumes. He highlighted that \u201cbeing an island is not a problem but an opportunity\u201d for implementing renewable energy solutions and ensuring energy resilience, as \u201cit allows us to progress within an insular framework, experiment, and develop initiatives that are more challenging in broader contexts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Technical Program<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The 14th edition of Canagua debuts today with an informative program sponsored by Green Efficient, where a distinguished panel of experts will address current topics related to the water-energy binomial over three days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">This Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning will focus on \u201cEnergy,\u201d featuring seven presentations and three round tables addressing topics such as myths and misinformation about energy transition, deep geothermal energy, decarbonization of the Canary Islands, and the insular energy revolution, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cWater\u201d will take center stage from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, with four round tables, each featuring an opening presentation. These discussions will delve into topics such as the digitalization of the water cycle, water as an energy resource, the costs and pricing of water in the Canary Islands, and solutions to drought challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Exhibition Area and Business Platform<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The 14th edition of the International Canagua y Energ\u00eda Fair features 89 exhibitors, with 80 evenly divided between water and energy sectors, and the remaining dedicated to services such as eco-islands, electric mobility, environmental R&amp;D&amp;I, and sustainability consultancy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Exhibitors have access to the Speakers\u2019 Corner, a space sponsored by Bet Solar, where 34 participants will deliver brief 15\u201320-minute presentations about their projects, products, or services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">To facilitate business connections, Canagua y Energ\u00eda also includes a business area sponsored by Naturgy, offering a B2B format that fosters relationships and synergies among exhibitors or connects companies with attendees.
